We keep hiring DC's who have done good things elsewhere and yet year after year Toledo ranks at or near the bottom in the country defensively. We haven't had decent D since Amstutz was the coordinator. I sure wouldn't mind seeing him back on the sidelines.

With Molls graduating, I cringe at what next year's D will look like.

Amstutz? Now that's just laughable. I liked someone's idea of going down south and snagging an SEC assistant to coach our D.

We didn't learn anything from the Ball State game, defense sucks, no pass rush, corners playing 8 to 10 yards off the receivers.NIU totaled over 570 total yards. The defense knew that Lynch would run the ball, but we made NO changes to stop him. He ran the ball 30 times, we played very soft again and got burned in our pass coverage, and our tackeling was, I can't describe it. How can you let a team go 97 and 99 yards for touchdowns? It didn't help that we turned the ball over 4 times, and 3 of them turnovers resulted in NIU touchdowns, I can't find anything good in this loss.

And almost 10 points below their scoring average. Niu has been scoring almost 41 points a game. Only Iowa in Lynch's first start has held NIU under 30 points.

RE: FIRE TUKE
Which is why, even with the fumble, 3 INTs, and somewhat uncharacteristic play of the O line, I believe we still could (would?) have won this game with a few more stops on D. Just better tackling could have again made a difference. Everyone sees that it's a problem, but we certainly have 2 camps of thought emerging as to the cause of the problem--those who question our level of talent and those who question our coaching & sets. Whichever it is, it must be addressed in the offseason and spring, or we will miss out on yet another MACC game.

RE: FIRE TUKE
I don't like our defense, however I think Tuke is working with what he got handed from Ward who was much worse. I would like to see what Tuke can do with his recruits. The players like him. I am more concerned in the last several games with our red zone offense, it has been horrible. Even as crappy as defense played, if offense didn't make so many turn overs and a couple questionable 3rd down plays,we still could have won last night.

RE: FIRE TUKE
Well, there it is in a nutshell, I guess...if either the offense or defense would have played better, we win the game.

If it is any consolation, I felt the same way when Barry Church graduated.
