RE: Ramsey's recruiting classes.
Year 2 was the best class. Bowdry, Dobbins and Bunkley were/are key contributors. Jared Axon also was a preferred walkon that year. Dumes would've been a good MAC player but decided to go to JC then on to Indiana.

Player retention hasn't been good under Ramsey. Much of that goes back to player evaluation. Marvin Skipper was unfortunate, he may have ended up being a big-time MAC player based on some reports. Skipper's Year 3 class is very weak. Year 4 is not much better - basically only Antonio Green.

It's been said that a college coach only needs to find 1 great recruit per year and the rest quality role players to maintain success. The recent classes haven't lived up to this standard. Hopefully Green, Harris and Balkema can improve but Ramsey needs to find a diamond in the rough with this next class because we face a big hole next year with the loss of Medlock.

Is Amere May Jr. the answer? Will Ramsey go Juco route again? He seems to always get 1-2 JC's.

Amere May, Jr. would be a bad fit at EMU. He really should go to WMU. WMU has a better location, closer to home (covert/South Haven), prettier girls, nicer campus, better academics, better coach, just about everything better, but your arena is better. However, it is empty, thus we have a better game day environment.

Just saying.

But apparently WMU isn't interested and EMU is.

I know, and he will likely light WMU up in a couple of years. I think this kid could be a good get for you guys.

I was lukewarm ie Class D stats but the kid is an amazing athlete that I think will be hungry to show he's belongs in Div I.

RE: Ramsey's recruiting classes.
i just looked on youtube for some clips of May. the only ones i saw were of him shooting hoops in the rain. (there's an "April showers bring mayflowers" joke to be made here, but i can't figure it out)

I also found out there's an Amere May Sr. who is a pastor in Kalamazoo. Could be his father. It would be nice to have a man of the cloth rooting for eastern.

I believe May Sr. was all state at Grand Haven in the early 90's and intended to play at CMU. Not sure he ever did though.
