Utah Valley is coached by former Ball State head coach Dick Hunsaker.

RE: O/T: What's with BT hoops?
Everybody knew Indiana and Iowa were the bottom the of conference. Northwestern just lost its best player, and the loss to Butler was expected. The only bad losses are the ones by Penn State, who looked to be a NIT team.

The Big Ten is deep. Its top six are as good as top half as in the country. There is a reason many analysts have it as the top conference in the country. This should be the year it wins the ACC-Big Ten challenge, and a few early November losses will be forgotten.

Bottom of the conference or not, Iowa's losses are terrible. Duquesne and Texas-San Antonio? The Big Ten shouldn't be losing games like that.

I agree they are bad losses for Iowa and Indiana, who lost again tonight. However, in the grand scheme of things it means little. Conference RPI is much more important for conferences like ours in March than the power conferences. Iowa's horrible record is going to be about 10th on the list when evaluating a Big Ten bubble team versus another conference's bubble team.

And the Hawkeyes are currently pounding BG by 20 with about 10 min to go.
Miami loses by double digits to La. Tech.
EMU loses to The Citadel.
Akron loses by 20+ to NC State.
Maybe the thread should be "What's with MAC hoops?"

I don't agree with KStud about BT.

Off to a shaky start.

Here is Zibby on the Big East:

"RE: Big East Basketball 36-0 to start the season

Make that 40-0.

Syracuse 87
UNC 71.

Suck it, ACC!!"

And Zibby is a Syracuse fan. Of course, he is excited.

The Big East and Big Ten are the top two conferences. Pretty much every hoops expert has them ranked preseason No. 1 and No. 2 in either order. Are you happy now? Something tells me this thread would not have been posted had Ohio State had beaten North Carolina instead of losing by four.

I wanted to bump this up to say I will eat my crow. I still think the Big Ten can have a nice run in the NCAA tournament, but with conference play starting, realtime RPI has the Big Ten at 6th. Purdue, Wisconsin and Michigan State have done well, but Illinois and Michigan have disappointed and Ohio State has not fared well without their best player.

Actually, BT football is having a good bowl season.

I had thought both BT hoops and FB were down but FB did make a comeback.
