CMU (spread) and EMU are recruiting the spread QB.

Why EMU? Why bother?

Why not? RE said he going to go after kids that can play.

QB is an interesting position for EMU. Is Gillett the long term QB? Is Payne the guy? Really anxious to see Payne on the field.

IMO, EMU needs to sign one QB this winter.

Hm, when according to one service he is ranked 68th at QB. But if the spread is this kid's thing EMU is not a good fit for him. We already have enough spread players on this team who have struggled with the new offense. I don't see bringing a spread QB into the current system as being either a win for EMU or the kid just mutual frustration. It does make sense if EMU is going to review its current offense scheme and makes some changes.

Nickle,

I'm with '79 on this.

Why a spread QB?

Why would he even WANT TO COME to EMU?

I don't get it.

SPREAD OFFENSE??? Maybe we will have a new Offensive Coordinator come in and install the Spread Offense but don't count on it!

Actually I'm not that concerned with the style of offensive EMU runs. My biggest beef has been with play calling. How many times have we seen the same run play on 1st down? Very predictable! I think the short yardage and goal line play calling has been lacking too.

Pro-set or spread??? There are several variation of both. Genyk ran the warp speed at the end of last season. I'm not in favor of that. Yea, EMU scored a lot of points but it put a lot of pressure on the D.

Gillett does seem to have the attributes of a spread QB more than pro-set.

I do agree that we need another QB candidate. Gillette is a real run threat but passing wise hm, he really would have benefited from a red shirt year and in my opinion hasn't learned to read defenses yet which isn't surprising he's just a freshmen. Can't figure whether McMahon is in or out or undecided. Maybe Payne is the missing puzzle piece, he will have a year to have learned the offense. Lots of questions at QB.

Gillett is still young and inexperienced and how knows how he will develop.
But 9 turnovers in the last two games where he had played completely isn't a good sign.
