There is a thread on the rivals.com mainboard talking about rumors that the Big Ten has approached Rutgers about joing their conference. That would give them 12 teams so they can form 2 divisions ad have a championship game, they would have the New Jersey/New York market, and Rutgers is similar academically to the Big Ten schools. Leaks are coming from everywhere from the people involved, yet SO many still do not wanna believe or see the trueth right in front of them. Watch they will come back and say that this is nonsense, or cling on to every word the BE commish says. NO ONE IS GONNA COME OUT YET and say it , But things are happening right now, and will impact decisions.

... I always believe someone until they are proven wrong. You may have inside info, but as for now, you failed. November the 2nd came and went. No change. So until I see Memphis in the Big East, Go play in traffic, preferrably on I-40.

Quite the opposite really.

People want desperately to believe but they've been burnt one time too many and don't want to be sold a bill of goods.

What leaks? Where? There have been no leaks. A little bit of speculation on a blog or message board here and there, most of which probably came from this forum, but no "leaks". A "leak" would be coming from our Athletic offices, or the Big East offices, or a legitimate news service like ESPN or CBS, not from just another message board somewhere. Just more bs.

This is going to be hard to say but TC's prediction was wrong but I think there is much truth in the overall plan. Don't have inside information and not making any predictions but feel like there is definately work being done regarding conference affiliation. I'm still in the "I'll believe it when they leave the podium" crowd since so many things can go wrong.

He hasn't told us ANYTHING we didn't already know. Wow, big insider there. The only thing he's done is made promises that certain rumors were in fact 100% true and done deals. And so far he's been wrong every single time.

You get a clue. No one on here believes you now b/c you said, and i qoute, "Big things are going to happen on November 2nd. mark your calendars." Nothing noteworthy happened. ANYONE who comes on this board, promises something is going to happen on a certain day and it doesn't happen should expect to be bad mouthed and ridiculed. And as long as you keep up your 5 year old arguing with people on a message board its just going to add to it. I hope everything you say is right, but seeing is believing my friend. In Memphis sports, we've heard to many unfulfilled promises to just believe everything someone says. Not sure where this goes from here, but if anyone was listening to G & G yesterday Parish mentioned this very scenario where the Big 10 would make the first move and the Big East would move from there.
Rutgers would be a good get for the Big 10, since it would give them a footprint in the northeast between Philly and NYC. Additionally, it would give the Big 10 a good chip for TV contract negotiations in 2012 if they had the NYC market.

Nothing is happening. Rutgers is not going to the Big 10 and Memphis is not going to the Big East. Maybe there will be some changes in the BCS conferences in the next 10-15 years, but there is no evidence that anything will happen anytime soon. It is all internet chatter and rumors.

Well, in case you haven't heard, it will be a bit of a 'rebuilding' year for us... as in 'rebuilding after the whole building was set on fire and burned to the ground.' But our second exhibition is Monday and the season starts soon after. I think the game against Kansas will be televised mid-November. We'll be a longshot in that one but it could be fun to watch anyway.

I understand that. I experiance tough Pitt years 10 years ago so I know what its like to have a rebuilding year. And to be honest Pitt is in rebuilding mode ourselfs. I don't see Fred Smith or Alan Graf anywhere making the claims that you are making.

I see you either a) making predictions that turn out to be wrong or b) making statements that anybody with a pulse could make regarding the program.

No one (well, almost no one) ) has any way to evaluate whether or not you are close to anyone in the program or FedEx, or whatever, other than your word which is, quite frankly, sh!t right now.
