Actually, she could purchase a load balanced cluster for us, AND host for a few years with that kinda dough. People are wetting their pants over The Waterboy -- and he's only running at 30% his potential power. Imagine 20 full powered waterboys with our own private rack and switch. I'm talking enough power to host *all* of Scout/Rivals ... maybe even both....
But I digress.
Congrats to ye rollerpin yielding librarian... and thankfully we won't be needing to do any hosting things for awhile now. And even if we did, we are no longer stuck with having to move to a new server or pay LARGE premiums on hardware. We go buy what we need and pay $100 or so for it to be installed. Even eating $100 for admin time -- STILL significantly cheaper than before.
Lauramac - you should have posted the Jeopardy news on the Lounge so us non-CUSAers could be watching you (or in my case, taping you since Jeopardy comes on at the ungodly hour of 4:30 pm in Atlanta).

Its common knowledge "Free Beer" are sweet nothings in the ear of Rice women (they don't like to be called "chicks" for some odd reason). Of course finding a Rice woman who looks as good as lauramac is certainly a tough assignment.

Volente Beach Owl said the same thing! I thought I'd buzzed in in time -- I hit it, checked in my peripheral vision & saw that the light was on before the "too late" chime, & got DENIED. And IIRC, I *had* finally reasoned out the answer! Oh well, it didn't end up affecting the outcome, so it's OK. But it would've been neat to run a category. Especially that one -- it was fun.
Anyway... glad y'all liked the "FREE BEER" story!
And every word of it is true. I've been getting emails from college friends laughing about it.

Cool! OwlJacket was on too, in the early 90s. So, there are at least 3 of us in the "What is NCAAbbs?" club!

Yeah, but if you had got it, that would be $2K, plus you could've bet an extra $2k in final Jeopardy! giving you an extra $4,000! All because Alex Trebek is blind!
