Do you think he will redshirt??
Jon, I think Smith will wear the redshirt next year. It will give him time to gain some muscle. Between Jack Hammons, transfer who had to sit out this year, and the new QB, we should have a good backup for Kilian.
It would be smart for him to redshirt, so he's the backup to Smith in 2005 as a redshirt frosh, then a two-year starter in 2007 & 2008.
Keep in mind that Johnson could always redshirt the following year. It gets complicated, true, but it gives both him and Smith one year to learn and another to redshirt, with each getting three years to contribute. It also helps avoid conflicts in the number of years they go head-to-head.
We know one thing, with his 4.85 speed, he is a true pro style passer that is going to stay in the pocket or the nose guard could run him down. :D
