Full Version: Conference USA and BCS Zones Map...

This started out as a thought as I was reading Tallgrass's thread about how the BCS conferences have "tight geography."

I've made C-USA maps before, but they've always been dots on a map.... I thought "what if I made them be zones, kinda like territories?"

I tried to make each zone as compact as possible, with as little overlap as possible.... now obviously, this doesn't mean anything about who follows these teams... this is just the schools themselves.

Frankly I don't think I could've fit the Sunbelt or MAC in, although the WAC and MWC would probably be doable. But, the point is to compare C-USA's geography to the 6 BCS conferences.

UAB should be especially happy... as our conference looks like a dragon, eating the SEC, ACC and Big East.... then we'll turn around and take care of the Big 10, Big XII, and Pac-10!

Frankly, I don't think we stretch out any more than the BCS conferences do.
Very nice.

A) LMAO at the UAB comment!

B) USF in the BE looks more on an island there than it did in my mind.

C) Just consider how spread we'll look if UTEP (and just for the heck of it, NIU) is added.

D) While our geographic spread may not be substantially different than the BcS conference, the belief that it is an important factor is amplified by the fact that our member schools just don't have the budgets that those other schools do. I wonder how much that point has effect the perceptions of myself and others with regard to geography.

I was thinking the exact same thing.

That, and the notion that SouthGAEagle's map makes the Big East look like a section of bowel.

Disturbing, but accurate. Even metaphorically appropriate.

Definitely more disturbing than anything else.

Whoa, you have way too much time on your hands.

Nah... I did it in about 20 minutes.

So we're a dragon... the Big east is a section of intestines.... the SEC is a dromedary camel.....

This is better than a Rorschak test!

Does that mean the Big 12 is an amoeba?

"An amoeba" is the easy way out! Gotta be more creative! 03-wink :)

Come on, I should get points for either knowing what one is or spelling it right!

Alright, how about...

PAC-10 = deformed Loch Ness monster

Ahh... see, now we're getting someplace. I wonder what Sigmund Freud wrote about people who see deformed Loch Ness monsters in the Pac-10? :)

"Sometimes a conference map is just a conference map...."

Although, UTEP would give the dragon a tail.....

That settles it, UTEP it is! 03-wink

Of course, if we add NIU, then we can transform from a dragon to a scorpion equipped with a stinger

C-USA looks like it should be saying, "I crushing your head." :D
Anyone notice how the "centrally located" Dallas CUSA HQ appears in our zone? Yes, Briton B. is our saviour!
GREAT MAP! and a great look at just how much CUSA ins't spread out. Personally I'd like to see us add La. Tech for the logisitcs alone...or maybe even Fla Atlantic in Boca Raton if they ever make it to D1. they are building their own 40,000 seat stadium on campus as we speak.

I think he meant FAMU as far as the stadium goes. Wasn't that announced the same time as the BET television deal for the Rattlers, as well as their hopes to move to I-A?

FAMU trustees have decided to hold off on making the jump to I-AA. I don't see this jump happening for atleast 8-10 years.
