players, today is the last day of the dead period, and coaches can start making offers starting tomorrow or I should say contacting the recruits. This maybe the same for JUCO players but I'm only familiar with HS. Since Tulsa has at least 2 scholarships available, most schools have already depleted their schollies, if any players had a break out senior year and are available, Tulsa wouldn't have much competition for them!! It seems everyone is looking at Tulsa to pick up some immediate help from the JUCO ranks and let our young players develop, which is fine with me. Right now, a top JUCO PG would look like the greastest need even though our rebounding was horrible last year. I think GONZO, and Glenn, if they would move him to power forward and Teich can cover the rebounding problem OK!!
I agree with that assessment, fish. Rebounding should be improved next season (don't forget that Cardwell and Ramsdell will have a summer to hit the weight room). We really need the help at PG.

I think Blankenship is competent, but I honestly see him as a solid (and valued) backup, provided we bring in a JUCO point guard or if McDade develops quickly.

Now might also be a good time to recruit a slasher for the three. After Glenn graduates, we'll take a step back in athleticism along the front line unless we recruit for it now.
Has anyone else heard the rumor that Cardwell is transfering? I heard this at the FB scrimmage Saturday. I am not trying to start a humor or suggesting that I have any inside information.
That's news to me. It would be a shame for him to leave. He'll split minutes with Gonzo next season and then be lined up to start for two years. Unless he hates the coaches or just doesn't want to play college hoops, I can't imagine he'd leave.

I haven't heard anything but that doesn't mean it's not true.

I hope not, but our record of retention with the big men isn't too good!!! :bang: If that happened it could get to be difficult recruiting too many big men because all the opposing coaches would be using that, and the other 6-7 big men who have left, as a reason not to go to TULSA, which would be hard to argue!! Maybe Tulsa needs to cough a nice sum of money, a 100 grand, to hire a former NBA center to come in and mentor the big guys, part time, and give recruits a reason to come to Tulsa instead of avoiding us!!!!!!!!! It surely wouldn't be that hard to get a former back up center in the NBA, who wanted to stay connected to basketball, to come in part time!!
I think it's just a rumor. I haven't seen or heard anything like that anywhere else.
