I didn't believe this till I looked it up for myself...but if LaTech and Tulane would make a great game with fan interest, how come they have only played each other ONCE since 1936??
Just curious....just found that to be extremely ODD.
KL
PS. La Tech and Tulane have played a total of 8 games. All but one was held by 1936.
First 2 games in 1904 and 1911 were played in Ruston, LA...and the other 6 played in 1923, 1924, 1925, 1926, 1936, and 1998 were played in New Orleans.
Not sure about Tulane but I would like to know How Many times Southern Miss has played La Tech. Seems like years ago USM & La Tech played several Games may have been an annual contest for 10-12 straight years. Lots of Good Contest I might add.
Their must be a site somewhere on the net that would allow you to search who your school has played and how many times. I just have no idea where to look.

I think they have played 45 times with USM winning two out of three.

Tech and USM have hooked up a bunch of times. Over 40 times, as I recall.
Yep, some great games too.
1976 Tech homecoming, also called the Snow Bowl, as it started snowing during the game. Tech goes 80 yards in the final 2 mins to steal one 23-22.
The Rain Bowl, featured Brett Favre and the Eagles escaping with a 26-19 win. Rained so hard the steps looked like waterfalls. We had to walk on the benches to keep from being washed away.
Future CFL star Matt Dunigan led Tech to a 1982 upset of the Eagles in H'burg. That was a huge win for Tech.
Of course, USM cleaned our clock a few times, but I won't mention those games...
Thanks Tiger
Yep My Eagles have 29 Wins against 13 defeats

Because Tech was a small college team and went 1AA for 10 years after the split.
Also, there was no 4-lane from north to south la- now you can do it via some roundabout interstates (I-49 has helped) but there still is no direct road. ie they really aren't that close
Tulane played ULL a lot in the 80s and 90s (2.5 hours down I-10), but fortunately, that has ended.
I always wanted to play tech and wish we would have - now, with the new c-usa, I'm not sure it's a great idea since we will play so many teams in the region in conference, but it would still be okay
Similarly, I wouldn't be against tech in this league if we weren't so jammed up with teams in this area.

42 times in about 60 years, so yes...Tech and USM (Louisiana Polytechnic and Mississippi Southern) have hooked up "several" times.
I'd be curious to know how Tech ranks on Southern's all-time common opponents list. What school have you guys played the most? Looks like Memphis, Louisiana-Lafayette and Louisiana Tech. I didn't realize y'all had played Alabama as many times as you have (38 times).

ccs, that's pretty darn impressive.
My neighbors brother in law played at USM. His favorite game, according to him, was in Ruston. Pouring down rain, barely can see five yards. He caught the winning TD pass from Brett Favre when he could barely see the ball.
This story is according to him. I was at the game in the rain, but I cannot remember the game. Too much rain and too much alcohol.
tell me about it...i like southern fans...we went down to hattiesburg for the game the last few years and each time someone always stops us and invites us to their tent/rv...etc. to have a beer and shoot the bull before the game...i always make sure to return the favor when USM comes here... i enjoying going to hattiesburg...and so will the new teams in C-USA.
Go Tigers!!!

The college football database listed above has some statistics on all D1 football conferences and their members. One of the stats gives teams points for various catagories and I lumped the old conference members, new confernce members and potential members together into one table. Catagories are Winning %, Schedule, National Championship and Big 4 Bowls. Hopefully this comes across semi-lined up.
