"Louisiana Tech seemed a logical fit for C-USA. Every WAC school had hoped it would go, mostly because it would redefine the WAC's warped sense of "Western" by shaving 809 miles off the conference's eastern edge and thousands of dollars off travel budgets.

But C-USA's athletic directors reportedly, and wisely, have recommended UTEP.

UTEP would be insane to turn down an offer. It's not so much that C-USA is a better fit, but UTEP has to guard against being left behind in the WAC."

That is an interesting article. I think the columnist is correct that the WAC would be forced to look into expansion in the Central time zone if Louisiana Tech sticks around. That would likely mean the WAC would invite North Texas.

I think if UTEP gets this invite

UNT, ARK State and You all (ULL) make your way to the WAC, now if the WAC wants to rescue Idaho I don't know, if not they could be headed back to I-AA and the Big Sky. This is really all LA Tech's call I think.

Tech's call will be to :

A) swallow their pride

or

B) Cut their own throat.

The WAC without Rice,Tulsa,SMU, and UTEP looks an awful lot like the BIG WEST II.

UNT, ULA, and ASU have been there, done that, and we're NOT goin' back. 05-nono

Hey CajunNation. Curious, when were you appointed as the spokesperson for UNT and what they will/won't do?

Hey, didn't mean to step on your toes.

I just have a WELL informed opinion on this topic.

What a Prick!

From what I can piece together the Big West was

Ark St
Idaho
ULL
New Mexico State
Boise
Fresno St
Nevda
SJS
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Now let me set a new WAC up with DIVS.........

Western Athletic
Boise St.
Fresno St.
Hawaii
Nevada
San Jose St.
Idaho (depending on if they rescue them)

Louisiana Tech
UNT
Ark St
ULL
New Mexio St
Utah St
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

If the WAC is going to rescure Idaho that doesn't look like a bad set up. The conf is far from being regional but both div are pretty close together.

There may be a shortage of factual info, but it's for sure that there isn't a shortage of "well informed sources/opinions" on the internet.
