I've never seen more classless, bitter, jealous or ignorant fans than these guys. If la tech gets the nod, here is what you guys have to look forward to on this great forum.

Alot of Tech fans are great people and good fans..but alot of their posters are just complete idiots! too bad that alot of the ones that post on all these boards are the moron ignorant posters that they have.

I saw this in one of their threads:
"All this talk about UTEP reminds me of Mexicans, and that reminded me that I saw the latest verison of The Alamo. I thought it was pretty darn good.

They painted Santa Anna as a real prick, a coward!, but a prick nonetheless"

It reminds him of Mexicans? wow the ignorance is everywhere in that forum.

It all comes down to this and fact of the mater is UTEP doesn't play in something like this:

One thing that has impressed me about UTEP fans is their honesty. Someone ask if C-USA would be getting the Sun Bowl, and they came out with the truth, saying very doubtful.

Some (mainly one) La. Tech fan(s) are living in LA-LA land if they think the Independence Bowl is going to drop the Big XII to help get La. Tech invited to C-USA.

Is that the stadium where Bobby Boushe` (aka the waterboy) played?

Interesting how nobody is mentioning how that entire thread on their board got started in response to an out-and-out insult from the El Paso reporter.

So if La Tech gets insulted, they're supposed to take it... but if they insult someone else, they're classless jerks.

The double standard lives on.

Cane, you seem like a reasonable guy.......my perception is that based on - on field and on court strength, La Tech is the obvious choice. Based on facilities and public perception, UTEP is the winner.......is that a fairly accurate assessment?

I'm not sure that I favor one over the other.

This past basketball season we beat Tech THREE times. Once in El Paso, once in Ruston(oh and by the way we had more fans there than they did, I know because UTEP road games are televised in El Paso as are a few big home games), and in Fresno during the WAC tournament. Their "superior" football team beat us by all of THREE points last year(38-35) and that was with Gary Nord coaching. Next Year they will still have Jack Bicknell coaching but we will have Mike price instead of Gary Nord.

If LA Tech plays CUSA games in Shreveport's recently rennovated ($30 million) Indy Bowl stadium, how are UTEP's facilities BETTER? That's simply bull.

More LA Tech alumni live in Shreveport than in any city in the world. That's why LA Tech was still able to get 43K fans to attend last season's opener against Miami on a THURSDAY night. The THURSDAY night game prevented another 5K to 8K fans (mostly out of towners, such as myself) from attending the nationally televised game, because it was a "school night" for our kids.

Still, LA Tech had over 43K in attendance. And only about 100 of them were Miami fans.

Back to "facilities".

For the record, LA Tech's BASKETBALL arena is already a top notch facility and the baseball stadium (which you've seen pictures of on "Dwayne's posts) was recently rennovated and ranks as one of the best in the south as well.

So, tell me again where LA Tech's "facilities" are coming up short????? The 30K seat football stadiuim in Ruston is just lagniappe.

I'd say that's pretty accurate. To be fair, UTEP had that breakout year in hoops last season, but over the past 10 years the two have been surprisingly even in basketball. Football, it's no contest - La Tech is better, even in down years. UTEP definitely has better fan support and facilities. La Tech offers more men's sports and graduates more players. UTEP has a little better athletic budget.

Whichever of the two we invite, we're adding them based on potential as much as anything, because their resumes are very comparable.

Oh, that's classic. Just remember, YOU drew first blood here.

Why don't you tell everybody about UTEP's 6-24 men's basketball team from the year before (2002-2003 season)? You know, the year that LA Tech "ran the table" against UTEP???

Or tell us about your crappy WOMEN'S basketball team? Or your baseball ......ooops.....I forgot, you don't even have a baseball team. HA!

By the way, now that Gillespie has left UTEP for Texas A&M, UTEP will be lucky to win 10 games next year in men's basketball. The Miners have already lost some prize recruits due to the coaching change. At least LA Tech has the NATION'S leading rebounder (a freshman this year) returning. The future for LA Tech men's basketball looks very bright.

I would be VERY surprised if LA Tech didn't SWEEP UTEP in men's basketball next year.

In football, LA Tech has whipped UTEP's a$$ as far back as I remember, (yes, including last year, in El Paso). LA Tech has beaten UTEP in football every year since joining the WAC, as well as twice back in the mid 90's. In football, UTEP can't hold LA Tech's jock strap.

By the way, has UTEP EVER won a BCS game???? (Just curious.) LA Tech has won 6 games against BCS opponents in the last 8 years.

Mike Price will be in El Paso just long enough to get a BETTER job somewhere else. So, at best, you can expect UTEP's football program to have ONE (1) 7-4 season, before Price leaves for a better job.

I will address each of your points one by one.

Since you want to talk about basketball before last year I will remind everyone here that UTEP has been invited to 15 NCAA Men's basketball tournaments and 8 Men's NIT post-season basketball tournaments. If you want to argue basketball you're going to lose. Most of C-USA doesn't have UTEP's basketball tradition, let alone Louisiana Tech.

Or tell us about your crappy WOMEN'S basketball team? Or your baseball ......ooops.....I forgot, you don't even have a baseball team. HA!

Our Women's basketball team is crappy and yes you guys probably have us beat in attendance there too but at least the Lady Miners play in a much nicer and upgraded facility.(I've seen your arena on tv) As for baseball, UTEP had a baseball team up until 1985, someday it might be brought back. El Paso is a hotbed of high school baseball and El Paso Community College has a baseball program so it could be brought back, I don't know. We already have Women's softball but Title 9 makes baseball more expensive.

UTEP may have lost 2 RECRUITS but they will be replaced before next season starts and we did not lose any PLAYERS to other schools. We had 3 players finish out their careers to graduation but no one has transferred out of UTEP. Our all-WAC players Omar Thomas and Filiberto Rivera will be back next season so don't worry, your bulldogs will still receive their beatings. As for our coaching, Doc Sadler was UTEP's top assistant last year and the man who recruited Omar Thomas so UTEP will be fine in coaching and recruiting.

I would be VERY surprised if LA Tech didn't SWEEP UTEP in men's basketball next year.

Keep dreaming!

UTEP has been to 10 bowl games and spent over 20 years as a conference mate of Texas Tech and 40 years with Arizona and Arizona State. As fas as I know, Louisiana Tech has played in only 4 bowl games but I could be wrong.

By the way, has UTEP EVER won a BCS game???? (Just curious.) LA Tech has won 6 games against BCS opponents in the last 8 years.

Has Louisiana Tech ever won a bowl game? We've won five.

Mike Price will be in El Paso just long enough to get a BETTER job somewhere else. So, at best, you can expect UTEP's football program to have ONE (1) 7-4 season, before Price leaves for a better job.

He won't but if he leaves we will still have better facilities and a much larger fan base than you.

Bottom line: UTEP is better off than Louisiana Tech.

Thanks for everyone's input....it wasn't my intent to get another LaTech war started. Obviously, I didn't think ahead....sorry. Even with everyone's comments, I think that my assessment is fairly accurate.
