Tulsa Men's Soccer Recruiting Class Ranked No. 24 Nationally
Ten-Member Class Ranks Second in the MVC and Third in the Midwest Region
July 7, 2004
Tulsa, Oklahoma - The University of Tulsa men's soccer 2004 recruiting class has been selected as the 24th-best group among the 199 NCAA Division I men's soccer teams in the nation by CollegeSoccerNews.com.
The Golden Hurricane's 10-member class was rated second in the Missouri Valley Conference and was the third-best group in the 22-member Midwest Region. TU ranked behind SMU in the MVC and only the Mustangs and Saint Louis ranked ahead of Tulsa in the region.
The Hurricane's 2004 class includes junior transfers Brad Lowyns, Lawson Vaughn and Daniel Wasson, and seven incoming freshmen, which includes Brian Bixby, Eric Burkholder, Dominic Cervi, Todd Goddard, Tyrel Lacey, Greg McKenna and Kevin White.
"We're very excited about our incoming class," Head Coach Tom McIntosh said. "The national ranking is a nice honor to receive. It's a very deep class in terms of numbers. Some of the players should step in and contribute right away, while others will provide the team with valuable depth not only for this season, but in the future as well. We have three players- Lawson Vaughn, Daniel Wasson and Brad Lowyns- who have competed in collegiate soccer for the past two years and have been successful. I believe this class is much better than its No. 24 ranking because some of our newcomers have not received the recognition they deserve."
Tulsa returns 17 letterwinners, including seven starters, for the 2004 campaign. The Golden Hurricane opens the regular season on Sept. 3 against Stanford at the SMU-Mi Cocina Classic in Dallas, Texas.
