The SMU game tonight is important and I know Pooh wants to win but I hope the players have looked at the standings. A victory tonight makes the La Tech game really worth playing. Based on our wins over UTEP and Fresno, I believe we would win a 7th place tie with Hawaii. 7th place would get us SJSU and someone other than Nevada on it's home court. If we lose tonight, La Tech could be a pretty meaningless game!! On the coaching front---I have NO idea where this will end up??? I still have the feeling that Pooh won't get the job, even though he maybe as good a candidate as the ones listed recently. It just seems like Judy might have a hard time, promoting from within for the 2nd time. Kind of like, the last time was a disaster, so let's do it again. It would take a lot of guts to do that and I think she knows if it failed, it would mean her job!!! It also would be hard after the national pub we have gotten about how good the job is and all the outside coaches that might be interested--to say we are going to do it inside again. It could kind of make the national search look like a sham. As I've stated I like Pooh, I also would not be afraid of Doherty in the least, I like Pastner and would love to see his recruits, he's another one that I think will be a star someday!! Cane Gang, I watched Arkansas St play this past weekend and Shields looks like a good one too, although they said he likes to play a half court, 60 point game. I don't know if we will ever have the top talent to play a half court game and have a great deal of success, 25 wins.
