and SMU has too many. Being the shortest of the group, Chris Reay at 6'11" has left the SMU basketball team, he was a sophmore!! This guy was pretty good in high school locally, Texas Tech had offered him a scholarship. SMU has two guys, 7' and 7'1" he would have had to share time with evidently so he is going to play for the New Zealand National team this summer and transfer next year. I don't know if he would ever be a starter, I doubt it, but he could be a good back up if we can't find someone else!!!
I wouldn't be suprised if we took a transfer. We might have three open scholarships for next season -- Cardwell, Kelly, and Collins.

Undersized and overacheiving is what we need.
I'll take a KJ over a Steyn any day.

Phillipster tried the hieght thing. It didn't work.

Outside of Kurtz, the 99-00 team was undersized.
They did just fine.

I'm not sure taking SMU leftovers is what the program needs. Just like tha juco guard story Rivals has up.
This is a guy with stats that Phillipster looked for. Under 10 points a game from a juco guard? Phillipster would have been crucified for this guy even listing TU.
Denver, Stephen F Austin, N Arizona, and other big time programs are recruituing this guy.
If Wojcik signs this guy first which, based upon the schools looking at him should be a gimmee, are we back to the days of Meier?

We don't need a guard as bad as we need a 3/4.

What is with all the Collins rumors to? Is he not going to play basketball or is there just a "Collins Rumor Mill" support groups posting random things about him?

Glenn
Teich
Oz
Cardwell
Kelley

We have signed 3. We have two more unless Collins leaves.
That would 6 for one year.

OUCH

Yeah, if we could find two KJ's at the same time that would be perfect. It would be hard to double team two of them!!!! Baker is suppose to be that undersized, 6'8", overachiever. According to some friends in Fla, he is very athletic and could take over a game, rebounding and scoring when he wanted too, but until I see him on the court with that kind of attitude, it will be a little bit of wishful thinking for now. It sounds like grades could be of some concern and attitude too????? We have a guard that led the state of Texas in scoring, actually 2nd, against top flight competition and he is doing an OK job for his first year, but until we get a stud, 45%, 3 point shooter, we won't be anything more than average!!!!

You must be a man of extremes or just don't know a whole lot about basketball.
First we have to have a center then you agree an undersized guy would work and that Baker could be it . Then, despite the fact that everyone that has ever seen him play says he is an exceptional athlete, even as a freshman in D1, and can take over a game you call him unproven vs a new recruit?
And now want to recruit a 45% 3 pt shooter because without one we will just be average?

Dante Swanson hit over 44% 2 years and was under 44% his other 2 years.

Anyway, I thought you said we needed a slasher scorer?

How about we get rid of everyone and start fresh?

1 - 7'1 300 McD AA C who averaged 35 pt, 23 rb, 18 bk, and 9 ast as a HS sr?
2 - 6'11 280 McD AA C who averaged 32 pt, 28 rb, 11 bk, and 12 ast as a HS sr?
3 - 7'0 295 McD AA C who averaged 42 pt, 15 rb, 8 bk, and 7 ast as a HS sr?
4 - 6'9 255 McD AA PF who averaged 38 pt, 15 rb, 12 bk, and 8 ast as a HS sr?
5 - 6'9 245 McD AA PF who averaged 41 pt, 22 rb, 16 bk, and 11 ast as a HS sr?
6 - 6'9 250 McD AA PF who averaged 27 pt, 20 rb, 10 bk, and 7 ast as a HS sr?
7 - 6'8 230 McD AA SF who averaged 38 pt, 12 rb,9 bk, and 13 ast as a HS sr?
8 - 6'7 255 McD AA SF who averaged 32 pt, 25 rb, 18 bk, and 12 ast as a HS sr?
9 - 6'6 225 McD AA SG who averaged 45 pt, 10 rb, 5 bk, and 13 ast as a HS sr?
10 - 6'6 230 McD AA SG who averaged 41 pt, 8 rb, 7 bk, and 8 ast as a HS sr?
11 - 6'5 220 McD AA SG who averaged 37 pt, 11 rb, 4 bk, and 10 ast as a HS sr?.
12 - 6'4 215 McD AA PG F who averaged 28 pt, 7 rb, 4 bk, and 18 ast as a HS sr?
13 - 6'4 220 McD AA PG F who averaged 24 pt, 6rb, 7 bk, and 21 ast as a HS sr?

THEN WE WOULD BE GOOD DONTCHA THINKA?!?!?

I don't know what you're reading but I have never said we needed a slasher, as a matter of fact I have never mentioned the word slasher. I'm not big on slashers since that is mainly done to draw fouls. I have never said we need a center, Coach Wo did!! I recently said I would be happy and quite comfortable with Baker and Davis scoring and rebounding around the basket. All I have said is we need a good 3-point shooter to go along with McDade outside and we should win 18 games. I agreed with CG, I believe, that it would be very hard for Tulsa to get a good true center and two power forwards would be our best bet most of the time, ala Baker and Davis. As far as knowing something about basketball, unless you have been involved directly and indirectly with basketball for many, many, many, years, I wouldn't get to carried away questioning other people's knowledge of the game!!!!!!!!!
SMU had two big guys, 6'10"and 6'8", in this weekend and evidently SMU is at the top of their list. One of the guys, 6'10", also has offers from Georgetown, Fresno St and Washington St. They could end up top heavy with big guys like we were at one time recently, but I guess you never know how many are going to be around for 4 years???
We got a center!! A 6'9 Trevor Meier out of Bartlesville HS! A whole 11 pt and 6 rb a game!

107 people have viewed this thread. Bet they are getting a good opinion of TU fans.
