someone i know that has a class with him said that he was kicked out of the class for never coming. Hopefully he isn't going to be a discipline problem. On a side note, she said that he's as dumb as watson and always seems lost.
well thats not good news. Maybe he will get his head on straight soon.
maybe he needs a little extra motivation.
or he's just really shy

Maybe he needs to go his a$$ to class.
Maybe we all shouldnt accept second hand information as fact.

If we took that advice, the internet would cease to exist...
i've never known anyone to be kicked out of a class just for not going. if that were the case, my classes would all be much smaller come test time. lmfao

Wouldn't surprise me one bit. Come on people, the kid had to go to one of those questionable prep academies and he still barely qualified. College athletics has really pulled the education level of college down. I had class with several athletes and couldn't believe they graduated high school, much less got into college.
Someone I know, knows someone who saw someone next to someone, point to someone who knows the gunman on the grassy knoll. And this is not a rumor that was started on the internet.
Back in the day, I took a history class with Rodney Hudson, although about 85% of the time he came disguised as an empty chair.

Werewolf ninja's selling crack and working for the government will make them someones disappear, because they know to much. lmfao Sorry, I watch RENO 911 were the male prostitute is trying to distract the police by telling them that werewolf ninja's are selling crack to babies down the street-----Funny stuff--------He was just selling oranges and placing them in the customers laps. Funny stuff

I had class with many people, regardless of athletic status, that should not have been allowed out of high school, so its not just athletes :)
Also, I have never heard of anyone getting kicked out of a class for lack of attendance, but I have heard professors tell people there was no point in coming back because passing was no longer mathematically possible.
But lets let the athletic department do their job and not tear the kid down just yet. If he gets mysteriously suspended soon, then there is reason for speculation.

I know someone who has a friend who/whom we shall call George. George has a couple of friends-Jerry & Elaine. Well, while George is getting his loss glasses replaced their friend Elaine is bitten by a dog (true story). George rushes outside to get the name of the dog's owner but sees his friend Jerry's girlfriend, Amy, kissing Jerry's cousin Jeffery. It was not a woman kissing a horse.
Class attendance is overrated, I go maybe a fifth of the time.
I have not heard any of this. sounds like another unconfirmed rumor.
Class attendance is overrated, I go maybe a fifth of the time.
Yeah, that's what I thought to -- until I got the grades.
Now that I'm a grown-up in the business world, I realize what an arrogant ass I was by skipping class half the time. Disrespectful to the professor's time and effort, disrespectful to whomever is paying for your place in the class. In Mayfield's case, it's also disrespectful to his coach and teammates if he (or any other player on the team) regularly skips classes unexcused.. Even if he couldn't care less about graduating or getting a decent grade, he should at least have the respect for his opportunity to get his butt into the seat.
Half the battle in life is showing up every day.

Well, said, FM. I wish half my students would realize this. I should have you come in and give them a "life lecture."

Preach it brotha Preach it! Not showing up for class is a complete waste of money...I worked three jobs to have the opportunity to sit in class and it took a lot for me to miss one, I felt like I was cheating myself.
Its cool to go to school :)
A simple (yet elusive) life lesson: Stay sober, or at least relatively so, and go to class, and you get better grades.
My GPA skyrocketed the minute I figured that out.
I never go to class and always pass my classes! Of course, this is an online course so I dont really have the same point of reference. Go Blazers.
Oh, I forgot I saw Jeremy Mayfield at the Medical School . . .apparantly he is pretty smart cause he is in Med School. Of course this was Jeremy Scott Mayfield from Andalusia, AL.

Some classes do the automatic withdrawl thing such that if you don't attend class on the FIRST day, you will be withdrawn from the course. Outside of that, I don't believe any teacher can simply kick you out for not attending class. Had he been automatically withdrawn on that first day, I have a feeling we would have already heard of this by now.
Most foreign language classes, though they won't kick you out, will fail you after repeated unexcused absences, but that's because listening and speaking in class is a big part of the learning process.
I don't think either of these scenarios are the case with Mayfield, so frankly, I'll believe it when I see it.

I had a conversation with the team's academic advisor in Milwaukee. I very much doubt this story. Plus, if he were involved in something like this at finals time, he wouldn't be playing. Unless the class wasn't critical to his degree progress.
the class was theater so its not like it was a huge class or anything.

We have a winner!

Amen to Smaug. When I first attended college at GSU in Atlanta, I majored in cutting class, chasing women, and drinking beer, not necessarily in that order. ;-)
Years later I found out that actually attending classes, doing the assignments, and studying was a much more effective way to get an education. Who knew?
It was more fun the first way, of course...
I realize that this isn't the case for most people that cut class, but you should realize that some people cut class to study full-time instead because it can be more efficient, depending on the type of learner you are.
