What is your problem CrimsonMoron ?
UAB doesn't care about the turd stadium ?
Once again where did you go to school ?
calm yourself frenchy, i just thought maybe some folks would be interested in it. i'm always interested in seeing pictures of new buildings, stadiums or anything else being built. don't get your panties in a wad.
So, are they adding new decks to the ends or extending the existing stands?

How many will it seat after the addition?
they are adding a new upper deck in the north endzone, along with 2 levels of luxury boxes and a club level, this will bring the luxury boxes to around 120. the final seating number was announced a few weeks ago and is around 92,200. i know most of you despise alabama and would never step foot in the city of tuscaloosa unless uab was playing a sport there, but the stadium is going to be first class when it is finished, you might want to check it out sometime.
I don't despise Alabama, I just don't understand why you feel we'd be all that interested. I don't want to even think about the abuse I'd get if I popped up on a Bama board and posted pictures of UAB's facilities.

You got nice pictures? Great! Post them on the Bama board.
band dad i've already said it twice, some people are just interested in that kinda stuff no matter their school or whatever affiliation.
These pictures need to be filed under: "Your BCS Dollars at Work".
I enjoy looking at the photos, maybe we can get there in the next 200 hundred years.

As I have stated before, the most curious thing about many Alabama fans is that they somehow think the rest of the world revolves around them and that the rest of the world cares. They are insignificant and irrelevant outside their own small world. But they can't seem to realize that.
Where is the money comming from? Is some of that MY TAX DOLLARS? 03-hissyfit

I sure hope so :)
If my Tax dollars and expand Bryant Denny, YOUR tax dollars can build us a stadium......
ATTALLABLAZE Wrote:If my Tax dollars and expand Bryant Denny, YOUR tax dollars can build us a stadium......

Got no problem with that, just keep in mind most of the money came from fund-rasing efforts by the athletic department.

Quite frankly I think you guys deserve a new, neat little stadium that will seat about 35,000.
Actually the last TWO expansions of BDS were MOSTLY funded with tax dollars with donations added.

Of the $120M cost for BD and Coleman improvements, $70M was raised through private donations. The remaining $50M came from a bond issue.

Not to get into a pissing contest or anything, but those buildings are part of the University of Alabama School of Medicine ...

Funny how all the students' coats and ID tags say UAB all over them.

Well, you guys better get all over them about their web site ...
Anyone notice the colors of the logo are Green and Gold and not Red and White?

News Flash: If UAB ever breaks off from the UA system the medical school will NOT be controlled by Tuscaloosa. Reason, the population of Birmingham and the surrounding area is larger and as such has greater representation in the state legislature.
Notice how all of that is on the uab.edu website, not the http://www.redneckwhitetrashmobilehomebe...oti.incest website.

Anyway, I must say those stadium additions are pretty badass. Anybody heard when we break ground on ours? On, wait.......

The stadium is nice. I've been in that A club room on game day and it is impressive. The new jumbotron is going to be huge.
Threads like this should be moved. Has absolutely nothing to do with UAB.
.... at BD of course but I would also be interested in expansions or new venues anywhere (even Auburn, yuck!) I like to waste time looking at other facilities while surfing the net. ;-) Seriously AU has a very nice stadium as do most the top schools in the SEC.

My only problem with the BD expansion is that the north endzone upper deck will not connect with the upperdecks on the each side. It looks too much like TAM's expansion. Other than that it's awesome. In any event it will bring more people and dollars into the state and Tuscaloosa/Bham areas.

I do hope Bham gets a dome and UAB can call it their home. They deserve it after having to play at LF for ten years.

Dome = Dumb
On Campus Stadium = Dream Come True

UAB has played at Legion Field for over 15 years.
I don't want to tailgate at the BJCC no more than I want to tailgate on graymont like I've been doing for the past seven years. I want to tailgate on campus and walk to the stadium.

I concur! That would be freakin' awesome. Too bad I probably won't live long enough to see it happen.

do not ever ever ever compare bryant-denny to kyle field. kyle field looks like a huge tacklebox and bryant-denny in no way looke like that, the only resemblance of the expansion to the one at kyle field is that they are both end zone upper decks, thats it.

I think this will dispel any notion that the School of Medicine belongs to UAT.

From the "Mythbusters" portion of the Med School website:
Robert R. Rich, MD Senior Vice President and Dean,
School of Medicine Wrote:
I've had several, generally unhappy, e-mails from students regarding the change of the School of Medicine logo. I?m pleased to respond to MythBusters as I have responded to those students. Although I happen to think personally that it's more attractive, I also recognize that "art (or beauty) is in the eye of the beholder.". Or perhaps some students would say to me "there's no accounting for taste." A first fact to recognize is that both the 'seal' to which you refer and the new one are actually unofficial logos, not seals. The official seal, which will be on your diploma (and unchanged from previous years) is the seal of UAB, of which the SOM is one of 12 schools. The decision to change was made collectively by all the UAB health sciences deans to provide some consistency of identification for all of the schools. I think it has the advantage over the old logo in featuring the most ancient symbol of the health professions, surrounded by the palm fronds derived from the (official) seals of UAB and the UA System. The triangle is symbolic of our tripartite mission of education, research and clinical service. An important, and seemingly related misconception (or myth) worth clearing up, is that despite the "official" name of the SOM, we have absolutely no position as a financial or governance entity that is independent of UAB. The name is simply the name?it does not denote a school that is independent of UAB. Without question the UA System Board of Trustees regards the school of medicine simply as one of 12 schools of UAB--so it's probably time to recognize that reality. I report to the UAB President; she reports to the UA System board. UAB has a budget from the Alabama legislature, of which we get a portion. UASOM does not receive a separate budget. So to repeat, UASOM is unequivocally a component of UAB. To avoid ambiguity, especially outside the borders of the state, I generally refer to us as the School of Medicine at UAB. How we are known to the rest of the world is more simply as the UAB School of Medicine (recognizing that neither of these is the official name). And our only seal is (and always has been) the UAB seal. I hope that helps to clear up the situation for you. Thanks for inquiring and giving me the opportunity to bust a couple of myths.
To AlphaDog in regards to TMcCarty's post above: :owned:

p.s. I always enjoy seeing pictures of building expansions. I don't see why everyone is getting so pissy.

All I care about is a new on campus stadium at UAB, and keeping Legion Field from caving in until it happens.

Having said that, I agree. I don't see what everyones getting pissy about, either.

We UAB fans sometimes can be pretty thin-skinned and defensive. Now, living in Alabama, I'd argue that we come by it honest, but it's still thin-skinned and defensive.
