Palin isn't my first choice for Republican Nominee. Too much baggage with the social conservatives.

But I fear the economy will be so bad in 2012 that the Republican with the best organization, not truly the "best candidate" will get the Nomination. And the lady has the grass roots support.

Can she beat Obama in 2012? Obama is going to be battered from a civil war within his own party. He will be exposed for the doofus he truly is. And I think it will be a Republican Landslide just like 1980.
To me, palin seems a lot like that Miss USA girl... She made a comment that many people agree with but probably wasn't her #1 priority... was bashed for it... and so now she'd gotten so defensive about that one issue that its all she's seen as... yet it isn't who she is... but she is constantly having to defend it...

For the girl, it was marriage is between a man and woman... her bashers came from the left, her support came from the far right... she embraced those who embraced her (and apparently herself ... sorry couldn't resist), but clearly she isn't a moral prude. Palin is the same way... the far right applauded her for some of her positions, though clearly (from her record) she is guided by, but doesn't try and legislate her morals... but those who support her the most WANT her to.
