On campus, and the university is fine with it? Unbelievable.
That is just stupid.... in this day and age, Stupid is as Stupid Does....
"I may hate everything you say, but I will defend your right to say it"
The university really doesnt have a choice if you read the article...they have no right to selectively enforce code on certain groups. The director of PR for UM specifically states that, "they have the right to rally and protest as long as they dont interfere with university activity or the personal rights of students and faculty."
If they wanted to protest on the U of M campus, they would be allowed to.
I LOVE a good rally! So who is that KKK group you speak of?
OH....I won't be able to make that one!
The Klan has every right to protest and make their voices heard.
And everyone else has the right to ridicule that and unfortunately for a lot of Mississippi people, lump them in by inference. Especialy the youtube ranting F them ni@@ers frat boy and his friendly cameraman. They have every right to rant about ni@@ers (how pleasant they were). And we have every right to think they are typical pampered outr of touch jacka$$es.
In fairness to Ole Miss, they may have approved the protest, but that doesn't mean they approve of the protest. This has the potential to become a very ugly incident at a place with a history of very ugly racial incidents.

Ive been trying to tell them this for hours and apparently theyre unable to comprehend. I even quoted the reason behind it in an earlier post.
One thing King Willie did right was to allow that group to stage a rally downtown.
They got their butts whooped.

He is unfortunately, right, the Ole Miss really cannot do anything as long as the Ku Klux Klan have offical order to march , they have a right to be at the Grove. I hate and despise everything they stand for in the end, but their is nothing you cannot do.
Pretty weak.
They do have their right to protest, the only problem with most of the clowns in the KKK is that almost all of them didn't even attend college. I highly doubt any of them have a career, if they did they would fine other ways to promote their prejudice by using their power.

You're a freaking idiot. I knew I would look on here and find some clown who tries and make this look like Ole Miss wants this to happen. Like everyone else has already said, OM really cant do anything about it. If the KKK wanted to march on the U of Memphis campus they would be doing the same thing.

Their only problem is that they don't have a college degree? So, it's not their unbridled hate or history of violence? You would be very surprised how many of them not only have careers, but are doctors and lawyers etc. You should just delete your post. Also, change your avatar.

It is absolutely amazing that some folks feel they just have to twist facts, words, events, etc. so they can beg for credit for having uncovered some racial plot.
These same people would be deathly afraid to utter a whimper about such folks as Rev Jerimiah Wright or Louis Ferrakahn.
Yeah, it's a heritage thing.
Can you honestly say they are any more of a hate group than acorn or any of the "so called social groups". You do not have to support them but be honest. Over the past 20 years the vast majority of violence at KKK rallies has came from the anti KKK protesters. Look at crap that is going on at OM. First the battle flag, then they tried to get rid of Col Rebel, now they are trying to get rid of From Dixie with Love.,
it's easy to crush some a$$ at the tri-kaps mixers.
Sometimes all you have to do is let folks talk long enough, then their true character comes out...
The KKK is a despicable group. The fact that they wear masks reflects 2 things -- intent to intimidate, and fear and cowardly avoidance of consequences of their actions. They are cowards for not putting their faces behind their hateful actions.
The university might be forced to permit the protest, and they can allow an opposing demonstration as well.

If they do march in Oxford tomorrow you will see some stories about how many people were protesting the whole thing. You can brainwash yourself to believe what you want, but there are not many people who are supporting this at ole miss....if any.

Sure buddy.
This has got to be great for recruiting (sarcasm). I know Kennedy and Nutt are like WTH.
For many years, Illinois had the strongest KKK chapter, but that did not, and should not, reflect on that state, the university or anything else.
After all, we live in a free country, and the disdain for the KKK, Black Panthers, Ferrakahn's Muslim Goons, skin heads, etc. should not be wrongfully attributed to the place of their activities.

There you go again trying to do things you are not qualified to do, like thinking. I am a fan of treating everyone the same. Look at this thread. Who are the ones talking about whooping *** or doing violence? It is the anti KKK group. If you deny 1 person their right to free speech you deny everyone. IF you are too ignorant to understand that then some day you will lose your rights and will have no one to blame. What i hate is ignorant hypocrites who think only their views of things are protected and those they disagree with do not deserve the same rights.

Part of our discussion here has to do with just such flimsy connections.
Hilarious...This thread is epic. White people, black people, Muslim, etc. are all chiming in and thinking they are correct in their view when their view is no more relevant than the opposing ones. Who are you to bash someone elses opinion when they havent done anything or supported anything hateful or violent? True colors are showing in this thread.

Let's examine your statement. After legal wheeling and dealing both the KKK and the anti KKK protesters where given permission to stage a rally in Memphis. Both were under court order to hold their rally at a certain place. Now tell me which of these two violated court orders, left their assigned spot and marched over and confronted the other group. Also which group rioted and busted windows in down town businesses and looted. No one is supporting the KKK belief system, but you cannot have double standards when it comes to different groups. Only one group ACTED upon their hatred for the other group and it wasn't the "so called" hate group. Just as the KKK has hijacked our southern Heritage for their hate. Today's "so called" civil rights groups have hijacked King's and Ghandi's heritage for their hatred.
The people in Georgia today are laughing their asses off at these so called civil rights groups. The groups demanded the battle flag be removed from the state flag. So it was put to a vote and people got to vote on which of two flags they wanted. The so called civil rights groups THOUGHT they won. How ever if you were to look at the new state flag you will find that except for the shade of blue in the union and the state seal in the middle of the stars. The new flag is actually the Stars and Bars, or in other words the official flag of the confederacy.
If I were Nutt, I'd take the football team to the rally to personally "greet" them.

Strange... why throw something into the discussion pertaining to black people when this is clearly about a white racist group throwing a rally at Ole Miss. People who need to use something pertaining to blacks in order to support their arguments confuse me because I do not recall any Acorn, Black Panther Party or Muslim members staging a rally at Ole Miss. They can do it why not let them/us crowd’s argument is old and worn out in this day of knowing what our rights are. In one breath, you will cuss out the American Civil Liberty Union but use their tactics when it comes to the Klan, how convenient.
White racist should stand up for what they believe and not be shameful or hide himself or herself for fear of retaliation from anyone.
I understand that you want them to have their rights protected but what about child molesters. I tell you what how about I throw this curve ball, which clearly has nothing to do with what is happening at Ole Miss. How do you feel about their rights to say they want to have sex with children? Oh, dang that is right; this is about hate groups or is it just about the KKK on Ole Miss Campus. People rushing to protect the KKK rights are comical as if the Klan needs a spokes person. Maybe some here could be the next equivalent of Al Sharpton/Jessie Jackson for white racists.

Speaking of child molesters or even pedophiles, what is the logic behind treating M. Jackson as some kind of prince?
OXFORD, Miss. (AP) -- About a dozen hooded Ku Klux Klan members rallied briefly at the University of Mississippi before Saturday's football game with No. 10 LSU.
The members of the Mississippi White Knights of the Ku Klux Klan spent about 10 minutes waving flags, displaying Nazi-style salutes and occasionally gesturing at a group of about 250 hecklers that included young children. They were protesting the school's decision to drop a pep song that included "Dixie."
Some fans had been ending the song by chanting, "The South will rise again." Chancellor Dan Jones asked the band to stop playing the song after fans ignored a request to drop the chant.
The Klan said it was protesting over lost Southern symbolism at Ole Miss, which has been rocked by racial strife before. Following the 10 minute protest, the Klansmen took off their hoods and attended various parties in the Grove before attending the game.

I believe they should have the right to speak freely...But when they are antagonistic they should be held accountable for their actions. Can I stand out in front of a synagogue with a swastika and scream anti-Semitic slures ...Sure...But I should expect to be retaliated against.
No one should have to be exposed to verbal abuse veiled as free speech.
I for one would love to see the kkk TRY to protest at University of Memphis..it would not be pretty ha! We aint havin that..
There were 11 Klansmen at the rally --- 10 with masks, 1 with sunglasses (must own his own business)
I watched some of it and my favorite part was when someone screamed, "If anyone can show me a high school diploma I'll give you $100."

Yep, people are convicted by public opinion (a new form of public lynching when you do not like a verdict) but last I heard he was innocent of all charges in a court of law. Only thing I can say is I was not there.

We can certainly agree on the mob mentality of public opinion [see political correctness] to convict.
