ETSU president Dr. Stanton announces today that he plans to retire this year. I over heard this sweet piece of news from some faculty that attended a university meeting today. They said that it was for real this time.
Lets pray to God this is true.
I just over heard it from a couple of my professors a few minutes ago. I wasn't directly involved in the conversation but I clearly heard the words: Dr. stanton, retiring, this year, and for real this time; all in the same sentence.
I guess it will all reveal itself in the press shortly. So we should all know soon.

You know he looked like he was ready to kill over at the game Saturday.
If this holds it helps justify Pitt's theory that news breaks here before the regular channels break it.

I did a little more research on the topic of Stanton resigning this year. I talked to a few people that heard the same rumor going around today about him resigning. Story is, as told by a few sga members, is that in a meeting today, president Stanton went into some sort of public recollection/rant of the time that he almost went into retirement.
I don't know what all of this means but I suspect that he's wishing he had done it. Don't take any stock in the rumor, just know that apparently he made a horses *** out of himself today.
Damn.
Yeah, it didn't make much sense to me at the time, considering that he was wanting to stick around until the centennial. but to hear it out of the mouths of his own brethern made me a bit excited. whoops! I thought he might have had a change of heart.
Anyways, I'm sure a few of us will live to see the day when the king looses his thrown.
