I was in Nashville today and heard the drive time hosts, Bill King and Joe Biddle, call us Tiger High. They were talking about the 96 game with UT and how it was given to us by the refs(SEC crew, by the way). They looked up the kick return on youtube and bitched about how Cobb was down. It must really get under their skin that they lost to us with the best quarteback they will ever have, lol.

It is funny one of my college teammates, who might be the biggest ut fan alive, told me how he went to his room after the game and cried. We might stink at football but that one loss will haunt those hillbillys forever.

Their lowly rated radio show airs on 56am in Nashville. I seldom listen because it is boring but I might if they talked about the Tigers on occasion.

Ironically, I filled out an Arbitron diary this week. I mentioned that I would listen to sports shows more often if hosts were not rude to Tiger fans.

Bill King and Joe BiddleI remember Bill King and Bob bell's WLAC radio show the Monday following that loss -all they did was :hissyfit:they both had a "man crush" on Paytawn Manning during his 4 years there. Cobb wasn't down and Billie Jean King and Joe Fiddle can go suck an orange!!!!!!!

Bill King also hosts the Rivals Radio program weekday mornings on Sirius. There's a guy on there with him named Chris who is a MTSU grad who HATES Memphis. I've actually had to turn it off a few times when he starts going on off on how bad Memphis football is, how C-USA has too many bowl affiliations, etc. He loves to get his jabs in at the Tigers whenever he can.

The few times they offer any coverage of the Tigers, it has a negative slant.

I do enjoy a very popular morning show that Howard does with ex-Titan, F Wycheck. When all that NCAA-D Rose crap was going down recently, Howard said Memphis deserves the sanctions. I called and defended us. I had a lot of facts to back up my arguments . And, these local Nville hacks dont know hardly anything about the Tigers.

Me- So, you claim we deserve the penalties because of D Rose. Can you name any other NCAA program who declared a player ineligible after the NCAA clearinghouse declared that player eligible.

Howard- Doesnt matter. Rose took the SAT test in Detroit and he lives in Chicago.

I responded with other factual statements including that Dickie V just wrote a column on espn.com agreeing with me. Well, they dismissed that also. and then, they just cut me off the air. they didnt want to argue with a Memphis fan who knew more about the subject than they did.

Hey bostontiger, My wife and I were just in Boston a couple of weeks ago and it was great. My middle grandson attends Harvard and is on the football team. We went to the Princeton/Harvard game. Freedon Trail and the North End are super and Mike's Pastry Shop is too good to be true.

The only time I listen to AM560 is on game day. The rest of the time I listen to 104.5 FM.

Apparently, these fellows didn't have access to that information. Complaining about an over a decade-old loss ( that ended up costing UT a National Championship) is more entertaining radio.

That's what a good deal of sports talk shows are these days, especially " local" ones. All show having about as much substance of sports as professional wrestling and all the drama. ( minus the folding chairs.........well, most of the time )

Joe Biddle is not only a UT homer, but completely hates Memphis. He and I have exchanged emails a few times over his negative slant on Memphis when he's on radio and in the Tennessean.

A couple of years ago, the Tennessean ran a story about how many people from Middle TN are originally from other areas. They mentioned that the Shelby County area represented the largest percentage of transplants to Middle TN. I followed that story up with an email to Biddle, asking why not have better coverage of Memphis sports...he basically told me that it was because no one cared.

TG4, I hear ya. Just something about that school and the local utk fans that does it to me. The utk fans I know, look down their nose at every program that's not $ec. I guess to put it mildly, I just don't like the orange b@st@rds.

Not much to get mad about being called Tiger High. I mean do you expect for the media to talk possitvely about our football team right now? I think this was a much nicer way for the radio host to put it. He could have flat out said "wow, Memphis sucks."

Joe Biddle is not a UT homer he's an ETSU grad a Vietnam Vet and one of Spurriers best friends.
Biddle and Spurrier grew up together in Johnson City TN. Biddle will never say it but was a long time Gator fan and now a Gamecock.Not calling you are a liar Strat but the folks in Nashville dont look at Biddle and Bill King as UT homers. On the 96 play there was no whistle and Cobbs knee never touched the ground and if you had replay in 96 the play would have stood. By the way King considers West a friend.
