I read between the lines and nothing Marinatto has said indicated Memphis. He said an "Eastern School" that adds monetary value. The only 2 schools that fit this bill are Penn St and Boston College. Memphis will not make our tv deal better. Sure the Liberty Bowl would be nice.

I've been saying for months that i'd like to see Memphis join the Big East and one source indicated it could be Memphis. But since then its been nothing. Everything i've been hearing these past 3 months have been Boston College.

Maybe Memphis slides into the Big East through the backdoor and become the 10th school. Maybe they won't. At this point i'm viewing the CUSA schools as Plan B.

I don't see any reason why BC would go back to the Big East, but even if they did, the ACC would just turn around and take West Virginia, Louisville or someone else right back... so you're just giving up one of your top schools for a mid level ACC team

I'll be honest up until 3-4 months ago I never saw BC returning back to the Big East. If it was up to me, BC wouldn't stand a chance to rejoin us. I'd rather have a school thats committed to the Big East like a ECU or Memphis.

To those talking about teams leaving the ACC or Big 10 to go to the Big East, thats ridiculous. Both of those conferences are more profitable and more prestigious than the Big East. Teams go from the Big East to conferences like the ACC, SEC and B10, not the other way around.

I don't think Big East expansion is as simple as adding a 9th/17th team. I think for it to work they need to drop the non-football schools and add 4 football teams so they can have a conference championship game. That complicates things greatly. I am not saying it can't be done, because I think a conference championship game in New York's new football stadium is attractive enough for them to at least try. However, I think that would hinge on Notre Dame bringing in their football program. I don't see anything like that happening very quickly, and definitely not on TC's timetable. But what do I know, I'm just a guy on a message board.
