That can't be right, I thought our staff doesn't recruit local, high school kids, only JUCOs and out of state high schoolers? Plus they usually bring in guys that are too small too, this kid is way to big too be a Callaway recruit....

thanks. I just may take you up on the offer.
I'm just glad to see someone on this staff has taken a couple my critiques (more local HS kids & bigger linemen) into consideration.
Maybe there was a reason we needed an ADDITIONAL local recruiter.
Could it have been the one recruiter responsible for Jefferson & Shelby Counties wasn't getting the job done?
Anyway, it's a long way until signing day. Then I'll evaluate, again. As of today, we stand at 2 local HS commits and 3 juco commits.
NOW, where do I send my F'n bill? I'm not in the habit of giving free advice to anyone but friends and family.

I'm not happy until we sign Asian Ruff! Yes, there is a recruit with that name (see the 2010 prospect list) We can't let this kid sign any place else.
Huntsville High has a line full of road graders.

Maybe UAB should send somebody other than the Wide Reciever's coach to recruit them?

WHAT, and disrupt our recruiting juggernaut?

Bowens recruited 5 guys that signed last year, 2 DBs, a LB, DE and WR. I think they recruit by area, not position, but I am sure the players meet with the position coaches. Will Friend recruited a LB, DE, RB, and one OL. Take a look at Bama, they signed the #1 class in the nation and have basically the same approach. Their wide receiver coach signed 2 DEs last year..... Same with LSU and Texas.....
Oh wait, you guys weren't looking for logic or recruiting info, just bitching, I withdraw my comment.

NEWSFLASH
some of us don't happen to think our recruiting is all that good, thus the 'juggernaut' reference.
carry on

Yep, your right, its not like I work with the kid's parent.

'Phil, these people don't want to read/hear that.
they like the 'all is well, all is well' posts.
Why would there be a need to send another coach to recruit that area. UAB knows about the kids at Huntsville high if they want any of them they will offer a scholly and if they want to come he will accept regardless of the coach recruiting him.

I was simply looking at the history of our recruiting and what others do (and being a smart ass, mostly for OB79's benefit). I know most schools have area recruiters that recruit the players in the area, regardless of the position, with the idea that the interested players will get to meet their position coaches and other coaches if they want to. I know there are limits on time and contact by coaches, so it wouldn't make sense to have each position coach visit a school to only talk to their position.
I am honestly curious. Is the issue that it is the wr coach doing the recruiting or is it the coach himself? Has he not meet the Oline coaches or had the opportunity to come to the school and meet them?

As I meet the definition of a "Booster" I do not delve too deeply. All I know is the kid is hoping for a few more offers before he decides, and about where we stand.
As a booster I believe you can inform the coaching staff of the kid, you just can't talk to him. If they like him, they'll go after him hard.
Face it, UAB is down the list of any recruit worth a damn. They will all wait until the last minute to make a decision, unless UAB has something to offer that really interest them.
