After 90 minutes, still scoreless between UALR and top seed FIU. Sudden death OT is next!!!03-banghead
Final score: UALR 1 (Merrick 92') FIU 0

This is UALR's first tournament win without going into penalties and their first ever win over a top-seed team in the conference tournament in ANY sport before the tournament finals. Freshman Kamiya Merrick received a pass from Christina Veasley andlaunched a shot in ther upper right corner of the net 2 minutes into OT. The Trojans will advance into tomrrow's semifinals for the second time in the past 3 seasons.

Fantastic! And although not on FIU's home field, FIU was the closest thing in the tournament to the home team as host FAU wasn't in the field of 8. A great win for the soccer team! They must have gotten fired up about the news this week that they will actually be getting their own home field.

Does the winner get an automatic bid for the NCAA tournament? Still a long shot, but if you've knocked off the #1 seed in their home State who knows.

I think there's little doubt we'll be bidding on the Sun Belt tourney once we get our own field.
