Week 8 is done, halfway point of the season, and just curious of other's opinions.
As a long suffering Saint's fan, my pick is obvious. I will say the Colt's are right there, but there Defense doesn't really seem to be that great. Very good but not great.
The Saints...every facet of the team is very good. Hope they keep playing this way the entire season and playoffs.
I think the Colts and Saints are in the same boat. Great with the offensive - but questions on the defensive side of the ball. To me the Saints have a bigger problem on that side than do the Colts.
I think Minnesota is probably the top team right now and will be for a while unless Farve reverts to his gunslinger mentality. I do think they are getting away from Peterson a bit too much - but overall I'd say its:
1. Vikings
2. Colts
3. Saints

Good point about Peterson, I mean the guy is hands down the best RB in the game. He should be getting the ball.

The Saints have better defense than the Colts. Very opportunistic and aggressive. The Vikings have a stout run defense but boy, their pass defense needs some work. Even against a crappy offensive line like the Packers, they allowed Rodgers to go crazy in the 2 games he has played. Imagine if the Packers O line actually protected Rodgers better...the Vikes pass defense would have gotten destroyed.
Saints (as of today) are by far the best in the NFL. Outside of the Patriots though, they play nobody the rest of the season. That's either going to help keep their guys rested, or keep them from being truly prepared to play good teams come playoff time.
They are exciting to watch and I'd love to see them in the Super Bowl.

I have to disagree with this statement. I know I'm in the minority, but I don't think AP is "hands down" the best back in the league. He is one of the best in the league. I think Steven Jackson (look what he's doing on a team with absolutely nothing else on offense), DeAngelo (when he gets the carries), MJD (again when he gets the carries), and Chris Johnson have to be considered to be right up there with AP.
Furthermore, AP runs behind one of the best lines in the league.
AP does fumble the ball a bit too much and needs to address that. There are some great backs in the league....reminds me of the 80's and early 90's. Some teams are lucky enough to have 2 in the same backfield.

Adrian Peterson in my opinion is the most consitent running back in the National Football League for the last two or three years. These are the five best running backs the last three years in the NFL.
Indy ranks #1 in scoring defense at just 13 ppg. New Orleans ranks 20th with 22 ppg.

NO scores 1,000 points a game so it doesn't really matter. They're also leading the NFL in DST TD's (or something like that) I believe.

I wasn't comparing offenses or teams, just the defense. Indy's defense is clearly better.
In the playoffs defense matters.

what's the best offensive team the colts have played...the jekyll and hyde cardinals? that's about it. the colts can be run on. when they play good passing defenses that have a capable running game, they will get smoked.

Defense doesn't matter when your team can outscore the other team. The colts will be killed by the 3 headed monster of a running game that is the Saints just like they were killed by the Wildcat. To think that anyone is going to shut down Brees and his 6+ viable receiving options (Colston is one of the best in the NFL) is crazy.
At this point in the season, the Saints are better. Who have the Colts played?

The New Orleans Saints offense are averaging at thirty nine points a game this season. Defense does win championships in the end, but offense does bring people in amd make it fun to watch a football game. I enjoy watching the New Orleans Saints play football, just like I do for the Indianapolis Colts.
saints will lose 3 games this year including a second round lost.
the colts are the best team in football right now, then it would be:
vikings
saints
watch out for the eagles though(i hate the eagles) but they are going to be tough
If the Saint's get home feild advantage, they are not going to lose in the 2nd round.

that's really the key for them...getting home field. The Superdome is louder than all other domes because everyone is closer to the field. Right now, I think it's a tossup between the Vikes, Saints and Colts. But that doesn't mean much when predciting who will be in the SB. Last year at one point, the Titans were 7-0 and the G-men were 6-1 and everyone was predicting those teams to meet in the SB.
Be wary of the Steelers and the Pats, especially in the playoffs.

That is what is so good about the NFL, the fact that if you get to the playoffs, everyone has a shot.
All it takes is one game.
The Saints as the best team is debatable but they certainly are more fun to watch than any other NFL team.

said the same thing about the colts a couple of years ago as well, and they lost.
Home field always helps
