A really good, extensive report from Coach Shields. Sounds like some positive things from our newcomers. Obviously he's impressed with Montrelle Thornton's rebounding. If Montrelle can pick up the rest of the system in the next couple of weeks, he could factor heavily in playing time.
As I mentioned all along, Steve writes that Alex G/M is the closest thing we have to replacing John Fowler. Also mentions that he was pleasantly surprised that Ricky D. can possibly play some at the point guard spot.
After reading the report, it now seems feasible that the first nine will be Bozeman, III, Lionel, Alex, Mike, Burton, Courtney, Ricky, and Montrelle.
Of course that's just combining what I've seen with what I'm reading into Coach's report. Certainly there's room for other players to work into that group. Boy, competition must really be fierce this year. In the past, we've pretty well known who the main players would be, but it's pretty wide open this year. The Harding game will give everyone a chance to show what they can do, but it will be the Ole Miss game when things really begin to get serious and lineups will begin to take shape. It might take until the La Tech game even Cal Poly before we settle into a permanent rotation.

Absolutely. I hope he can keep it up, at least until the season starts.
