It seems that UK player Patrick Patterson is now sporting a new Lincoln Mark LT Truck, MSRP from $38,615. My, don't those part-time college jobs pay well! Perhaps it is just a "loaner" vehicle for him while his 1977 Pinto is in for "extended" repair.
The article actually goes on to say that his parents bought it for him - they must be very well-heeled.

Whether its a legit situation or not, why put your name into something that will only cause speculation and rumor? Its a 40,000 dollar vehicle and if hes as good as they say he is in the NBA, then he'll want something else next season anyway. It just breeds skepticism and I for one, dont believe a word of the "gift from my parents" shenanigans. I bet someone gave a gift to his parents first.
Cal knows how to get folks what they need.

My thoughts exactly - I have been unable to find out what his parents do for a living.
Thats one hell of a recruiting tool haha. In all seriousness, Patterson's family is very blessed and although I agree that it is going to raise some eyebrows, it doesnt suprise me that his parents paid for it..

Except championships. Sorry couldn't help myself.
Be careful. If he (Cal) is doing it there (KYU), then he probably did it here. We don't need to stir that pot too much.
Hilarious over at Cats Pause. They're all blasting "inaccurate" journalism and petitioning for the journalist who revealed it to be banned/suspended.

Ha ha! If a college kid "needs" THAT, I wonder what I need!

They are truly stoopid over there...All the journalist said was, "Patterson showed up to Rupp in a brand new 40,000 truck." He didnt insinuate anything but merely made a possibly sketchy observation.

No real story here if his parents bought him the truck, people. The reporter did not make an assumptions about it until a later post on this idea in the end. Their is no legs to this story at this point.

Those crybabies scream "Ban him" at the drop of a hat.

I wonder if his parents bought that $38,615 vehicle from the same car dealer that X does commercials for.
