Huh? 01-wingedeagle

Why post it here? Post this on a racing message board.

This is a University of Memphis athletics message board.

........By the way, I have a great recipe for a slowcooker stuffed potato soup if anyone is interested.
Wow, that's kind of random.

Why have Titan in your name? This is a Tiger Message board.
In OTHER BIG NEWS: I closed my jacket in my car door this morning. I didn't realize it until I got to the stop sign at the end of the nighborhood. Had to open the door at the stop sign and fix my jacket. The jacket had a little grease on it. All events that were scheduled for today will go on as planned, however. Just thought everyone should be informed.
dude...this could've been broken SO much better.

"BREAKING NEWS....The Memphis Motorsports Park is no longer a candidate for the Tigers' football head coaching job, according to sources close to tigerscane."

Did you make this same kind of post in the thread that on on here for a while about Double Deuce closing down?
I love stuffed potato soup!
Are you guys so narrow minded and anti Memphis that you can't stand a little news?

Here is a little tip. If you don't like the thread skip. Move on.

If the Mods don't think it has any merit they will move it.

But if you want to make this board nothing but Memphis Tiger Sports then you need to get ready to eliminate about 1/2 of what is writen.

Don't mess with me today. I'll call you mommas and have them swat your behinds.
It's still raining
in reality, this is the Dockery-Finch Tiger Sports Forum.

there are other forums in MT.org for this sort of thing.

no need to get bent out of shape and call people "narrow minded" just because you posted something non-Tiger related in the wrong forum.
This frees up a venue for Tiger football in the event that Liberty Bowl Stadium is closed by the feds.

So the question is, will there be more people at Memphis Motorsports Park or the Liberty Bowl on 11/14?

In reality I didn't have to go back too far and find 11 posts that had absolutely nothing to do with Memphis Tiger Sports.

The attack the poster mentality of this board is getting old so yea I am a little testy.

Lunch is over and I have to go. You can now go play with yourself.
I have never been to Memphis Motorsports ...

Even I understand this is big news ....04-jawdrop

Next time, put enough in the title so people CAN see they don't want to read it. then you won't have the smartalecks diss you. i don't want to read this but under the chance it was important news i opened it.
Was the NTR there originally? If so, STFU. Maybe STFU anyway. It was a harmless post about a big deal in Memphis.
I'll take that soup recipe.
This is not good for Memphis...at all.
Wow! That is a bigger deal than some here realize.
A lot of money just left this economy.

That kind of action is certainly tolerated here, and now appears to be encouraged. All of us that participate here will need to get used to it.

I liked the Motorsports Park. While it wasn't a state of the art facility, it was a nice place where a family could attend a sporting event together.

It's unfortunate that circle track never really captured the Memphis sports fan interest. In other years, many times there were more empty seats at MMSP than you see at other NASCAR sanctioned events. This year there are empty seats all over the TV screen at most Sunday racing events.

RIP MMSP. It was fun while it lasted.

I atttended several of the truck events and I was always surprised how many fans "travel" that circuit. There was a ton of out of state license plates in the lot at those races. Perhaps as high as 50%.
While I've never been out there I always heard they had really good crowds.

Not good...
Thanks for the info, don't matter to me where you post it especially when you put NTR in the thread.

I posted this in the correct forum at least 30 seconds before you did...lol.
You know, this hasn't been the best week for Memphis sports. But I'm sure someone will buy the property. It's too big.
Oh my Gosh!! This is big news......to me anyway. Dang!

Anyway, carry on...

Other than you, no one noticed.
This is not necessarily good for the economy but it could have been a mere knee-jerk reaction to the economy. It might have been temporarily shut down and workers laid off in order to save money. I doubt it stays closed too long but its just another thing resulting from a terrible economy right now.
If the truck race and the Nationwide series race are both gone, it will be hard to sell.
This is big news, at least to my BF. Thanks for posting it. Some of these folks need to chill.

Too many board nazis. We have moderators to make these decisions.

But I do always like as much info in the heading as possible, so I know if I want to open a thread.
OMG, wait...this is about car racing...

nm
There was an article about this not to long ago in the Mobile newspaper, apparently, a company out of Mobile was going to buy the park but financing fell through.

Way off base there.

This is a pretty big deal.
I think they tried to aim too high when they built the circle track with the truck and nationwide series. They should have just kept a little dirt track and the drag strip with the NHRA coming to town. If you have never been to an NHRA event, you need to try it out sometime.
Thank you for posting, although I already saw this on CA's site.

This is the correct place to sometimes post big news such as this. It will usually be moved to the proper place after the shock value wears down, but Dockery-Finch forum is the best place to post breaking news.

Not all news effects all people, but its news just the same, and important news at tha

You must be nuts. With all of the events there cobined it was worth 25 cogic conventions.

They were just in the wrong place. The same track in Tunica would be a financial success.
What about the soup receipe?
This happens when a racing corp wants a "date" and there are only so many in the calender. Both the 2 big dogs---SMI (Speedway Motorsports, Inc)and ISC (Int'l Speedway Corp) have done it in the last 3-4 years. They moved the "date" occupied by the newly acquired track to another track that they own.

Short term expensive.... long term good $$$$$......

All that being said... I'm not sure why it is on here?!?!?!?!03-yawn
LOL, will there be a interview with the door forthcoming?
ncrdbl is on suicide watch I assume.
That just sucks. MMP was good for the community, IMO. Seemed like they were doing pretty good, they had a lot of events. Another blow for Memphis.
I'm sure this is great news for all the Memphis haters. I don't follow racing much. Haven't really since the open wheel split way back. But this is not great news. It was a nice small track that brought unique entertainment to the smorgasborg in Memphis. I think the story reflects just what happens when the decisionmakers live elsewhere. They don't give an eff about Memphis and the park. Heck, some local businessmen don't give an eff about Memphis and sell out themselves.

Perhaps now, and when MMP still existed I was opposed to this, perhaps now is the time for northern Mississippi to proceed with building their own, larger track to this region.

This is relevant news to metro Memphis, and those who love and defend all that it has to offer as well as its promise and potential.

When things go well, do you also comment, "Another coup for Memphis"?
Some of you guys are having a good laugh at this situation, but the fact is that MMP was a great family oriented place, that gave Memphis a lot of positive exposure nationally.

Motorsports aren't just about NASCAR. I personally hate NASCAR, but MMP also offered an autocross course and a world-class 1/4 mile dragstrip. Now, the nearest 1/4 mile track that Memphians can use to legally race their rides OFF the street is in Nashville.

There is an absolutely dreadful 1/8 mile track outside of Jackson, TN; but Memphians who are looking for a place to race in a controlled environment will have to spend a lot of money on a trip to Nashville just to have some fun on the weekend. It's sad really, and I hope that someone will buy MMP and keep it operational somehow.
