Although most fans have lost total confidence in him, maybe.......just maybe, he can light a spark in this team that we haven't seen since last season.
It's tough being a Tigers AND a Titans fan these days.
Thinking of changing my screen name to
GatorsSaint or
CrimsonTideViking!!!!

I think VY can only help the Titans if he plays DB. The passing game of the Titans has been anemic but Chris Johnson is averaging 6yds a carry. Problem is that the Titans get behind and the running game gets taken out. Even if VY comes in a throws for a couple of hundred yards it won't help much since the defense is allowing over 300 yards a game.
Part of the reason the D is giving up that many yards is because they make a stop just to see the offense go 3 and out putting them right back on the field. You can't wear a defense down like that over the course of a game, much less a year, and expect them to play well, especially with so many injuries.

I was just about to say the same thing. Time of possession is important for the Titans in keeping the other team off the field.
But we have other holes to fill like special teams. Our punting is questionable, as well, until Hentrich gets healthy again!
P.S. Titans just signed former USC QB and 2nd year player John David Booty yesterday. He was pushed out of the Vikings line-up to make room for Brett Favre. Might be a good pick-up in the long run.

It's certainly important but 72% of opponents points are coming in the first half. You would expect it to be in the 2nd half if they were getting worn down. The Titans are a team that needs to get a lead so that they can play their game. Opponents are also connecting on 74% of their passes for an average of 8 yds a carry. That's really hard to overcome.
The receiving corp that the Titans have isn't so good either.
For comparison last year opponents averaged completing 59% of their passes for only 6 yds average. They have also gone from 5th in sacks to 27th.

I do not think that is losing Albert Haynesworth as a free agent to the Washington Redskins, but the combination of the Titans Defense with him helped them a lot. Also the injuries killl a defense chance to blitz or play the best defense in the end.
What do they have to lose at this point they need a spark

What Haynesworth brought to the game can only be duplicated by committee now.
Guess Titans will get there 1st win this week, leaving my Bucs and the Rams as the only two winless.

The object now is to build for the future. Young is a wasted asset at this point. If he plays well, then he might improve his trade worth.

Since this season is lost for all intents and purposes for the Tennessee Titans, the only way Vince Young helps his team is by playing well. If he help improve his trade value for the new quarterback nect year for he Titans, then VY has done his job in the end in my opinion.
The off-season should be interesting. There are still some games left so theres no telling how the draft order is going to be but you would have to figure at this point that the Titans would have a top 10 pick, probably top 5. I really like Sam Bradford and his being out this year really hurt his draft stock. No matter how well he performs in the combine, he won't go top 10. If we get a top 5, I'd like to see us package the pick and Vince Young to move down to the 10-15 range and get another good player in the trade, and then draft Bradford :)
should have drafted Cutler

Amen to that! Sports fans here in Nashville have been all over that one. He was a real local celebrity as Vandy's QB and future NFL prospect. He even visited the Titans while mulling his options when he chose to leave Denver.
A missed opportunity.

Let's see how he reacts to the first time he throws an interception and gets booed. I was there on opening day last year when he refused to go back in against Jacksonville and Fisher was screaming at him. Even more bizarre was watching Kerry Collins stumble around the sidelines trying find his helmet and put on his cleats at the same time.

Vince Young character will be revealed in the end when he throws an interception or the other penalties against his offensive line for the Tennessee Titans. Good luck to him this week against the lowly Jacksonville Jaguars.
hope vy plays good, but something has to click on d. i know we lost albert and schwartz, but you would think they would still have that mean streak like they did last season
Well, the Titans did what they had to do to win, even if it was against an inferior team. They needed to prove to themselves and the NFL world they CAN play some good football. They dominated time of possession, which was key. Their defense stepped up and had four sacks, two INTs and basically shut down their passing game. Granted, the little bowling ball (Jones-Drew) ran right through them for two 80-yard TDs, but other than that, they played very well. Special teams still worries the hell out of me, though!
VY played with absolute confidence as we hoped he would and the fans let him know how much they appreciated his efforts. They also fired up the defense enough to play much more aggressive ball. I was out of my seat at least ten times yesterday watching the game!
Congrats to ECU's Chris Johnson who outgained the little bowling ball 228 yards to 177 and set a new franchise record!!
Quote:But it was the 89-yarder with rookie Kenny Britt escorting him to the end zone that proved to be the clinching play for the Titans.
“The guys up front, receivers, everybody knew they had to get involved,” Titans coach Jeff Fisher said.
Johnson’s linemen were pleased at their star running back’s efforts on Sunday.
“It’s fun blocking for a guy like that, because you know on any run he can go the whole way. It makes it a lot of fun for an offensive lineman,” guard Jake Scott said.
Johnson’s record-setting day made a winner of quarterback Vince Young in his first start of the year.
“CJ, he is one of those players, you can’t coach those type of things. The speed that he has, he has a God-given talent. Just get the ball in his hands, and we give him some time to spring them, and that is what he does,” Young said.
