Holy catfish.

What'd they deliberate for, half an hour?

I think they flipped a coin, then took a smoke break. 05-stirthepot
2 hours and all 60 counts: GUILTY

So Smitherman as City Council Pres becomes Mayor? Will their be a special election and if so how soon?

Betcha Cooper can't wait to run in the special election.
Will Smitherman be the first woman mayor of the 'ham?
There goes the Olympics. 05-stirthepot

Bye, bye dome?????

The dome is a done deal. Larry Langford's status will not affect it.

And we were almost there!

Until construction is completely finished, nothing in real estate is ever a done deal.
Special election will occur probably in 2 months per New Radio 960. Just an answer to my own question and in case ya'll were wondering.

According to Wiki she will be... she's already listed on the list of previous mayors on there.
Patrick Cooper would be an excellent choice, IMO...too bad he's not "black enough" according to some voters.
From one disaster to the next.
Hey, who all wants to chip in to get LaLa's orange jumpsuits tailored so he can represent well in prison?

Leapin' Larry's been grounded, heheh.
I put this on the main board for a reason.
I put OT in the title for a reason.
Why was it moved? 03-confused

Stereotyping aside, the last white student body president of West End High School was Danny Arant, a white senior who defeated a black who had been junior class president, and at a time when there were only 5 white students in the school. Black people do not vote blindly by race of the candidate any more frequently than do whites.

Larry Langford did not win with a majority only because he is black but also because many voters all over the city believed he was the best candidate offered them. I imagine most of them are pleased with what he has accomplished as Mayor and wish today he had not messed himself up while President of the County Commission.

Wow, I guess an isolated incident with a very small sample size one year, who knows how long ago, at one high school completely proves it, huh? Much more than the 97% result from the NATIONWIDE election last November. Face it, a white guy has no chance of ever being maor of B'ham again unless there is a drastic change in the demographics of the city.

Anyone who thought he was the better candidate, even when compared to a random crackhead in Southside, is an idiot. Anyone who is pleased with what he has accomplished (remind me again...what exactly has he acomplished as mayor?) is an idiot. Look at his career and follow the trail of disaster. Fairfield, Visionland, County Commission, to the B'ham mayor's office.
