36 wins.
The grizz won 24 last year. Anyone else care to take a guess?
Who will lead them in scoring????? This will be interesting. It could really play out several ways. Iverson? Mayo? Gay? Randolph?
I'll guess randolph.
MemphisFan pretty much hit the nail on the head with his prediction. That is about what I would've said.
36.....with some close wins they weren't getting last year.
I'd say 41-41 ith Lionel Hollins getting a extension.
33 wins. Gay will lead them in scoring.

that sounds about right
Yes, it's very possible rudy gay will lead them in scoring, but it will be interesting to see how this team plays together. I still think the biggest issue could be team chemistry or the lack of.

Agreed, and until I see signs of chemistry, my sights are low for this team. They will be a lot of fun to watch though.
I think 30-34 wins is my expected range for them right now. If they show signs in the early season of playing as a team, 0.500 +/- isn't out of the question.
Hm ill go somewhere in the range of 35-38 but i have a feeling rudy will lead us in scoring.. his performance this summer in vegas was crazy good so he just has to work on his inconsistency and he will prove himself more as a threat this year.
Somewhere between 38 and 42 wins with Mayo leading the team in scoring.
20-24
Iverson and Randolph will be gone/not playing by midway. Iverson will be "hurt"- since he won't be starting (he should be a starter)...and Zach will be Zach.
Gay will take too many shots, and Mayo will get pissed.
As long as Mike Conley is the PG of this team, they will never win more than 30 games.
Expecting a team with a suspect "first" (re: non-defense playing Rudy Gay) option to win 10-15 more games is not wise.

agreed...
Aight, i've heard anywhere from 20 to 42 wins this season. It sounds like everyone pretty much agrees they won't make the playoffs.
After reading the paper today, i was glad to hear demarre carroll was playing good. He could end up being known as a "steal" in a few years if he can stay healthy (to me he looks injury prone for some reason, don't ask me why). It wouldn't surprise me if he replaces rudy gay in the near future.
Thabeet is going to get a wake up call this season to what the nba is about. If he could just get like 8 points, 8 boards, and 2 blocks every night, it would be huge for the grizz, but i wouldn't count on it. He is slow and pretty much has no offensive game. Good players on other teams will take it to him and get the bucket plus one. Count on it.
AI will prove me right about what i said about him before he came to memphis. He is better than conley though. I don't know as much about randolph as some other nba players, but he has every reason to make this season count from what it sounds like. Again, team chemistry will be the biggest potential problem. It will be interesting.
Anyone else want to make a prediction for total wins before the season starts wednesday against detroit?
I'll take a stab.
I believe the Grizz will win 40 or so games. I actually believe the Grizz will be really good early on but will fall apart by the All-Star break.
By February, I believe Randolph will be the black hole again, AI will be complaining, and the team will be arguing about a lack of touches.

My prediciton for the amount of wins for the Memphis Grizzlies in the year 2009-2010 in the National Basketball Association is going to be thirty five wins in my humble opinion.
39-43
Gay scores more than Mayo barely. Memphis misses out of the 8 spot by a few games.
Even with them 1-1 right now and iverson hasn't even been added to the team yet, does anyone else want to add a prediction for wins this season based on 2 games and expectations?
Anyone at all think they can make the playoffs?

I don't know how many games they will win, but I was wondering if anyone else thinks this team has more chemistry than in the last few years? I don't know what will happen when Iverson is able to play but these guys are actually looking like they play well together. I have been very impressed by Randolph, both his play and the way he seems to be encouraging the young guys.

Yup, he really seems to be talking to them encouraging when they do good and guiding them when they aren't. Or so it seems. He is playing with great effort on both ends of they floor, and no where near the ball hog ive heard he was. He is commanding a double team and passing out of it very well when it comes and scoring very well when it doesn't.

Has Zack Randloloph ever been the leader of any of the teams he has played for in the National Basketball Association? Whatever has happened so far, for the first time in a while since the Memphis Grizzlies broke up their playoff team, the Grizzlies seem to play together overall.
I'm starting to think we all overguessed the win total.
The grizz are 5th in scoring in the nba, but they are last in points allowed (115 per game) and they are ranked 28th (of 30 teams) in field goal % allowed to the opposition. They are also near the bottom in turnovers (tied for 25th of 30 teams).
Obviously, the grizz can't outscore opponents, so maybe they should try a little thing called ......defense. It might work.
It's still too early to judge. Most teams didn't start the season playing four of their first six on the road.
They (obviously) need to improve their defense. And they have got to get more production from their bench.
Defense has played poorly against some questionable opponents. Just watching the game last night you could see glaring issues on the defensive side. I think Conley is playing way to passively on the defensive side of the ball.

The other Greg Childers, most realistic Grizzlies fans knew that their defense is the team's overall Achilles heel. I am not surprised they are giving up a lot of points, that is really no different than last year. I was just hoping just as long as you play defense when the game matters, National Baskeball Assocation players are going to score on you most of the time.

Gay didn't really play good defense again. It's ridiculous that a player with his talent can't play better defense. If i was the coach, i would call him out.
Oj was way too passive on kobe too. I know kobe is a great player. There is no shame for him to score on you, but oj's defense was very weak. Demarre Carroll acted like he wanted to defend kobe better than anyone. At least he didn't back down taking on kobe. He was even roughing kobe up some.
Our lack of defense is more on the 1's, 2's and 3's such as conley, oj, rudy, and iverson. Zach and gasol have done better than the rest, but they could tighten it up some more too.
Speaking of defense, has anyone noticed demarre is covering 2's, 3,'s 4's and 5's including superstars like melo and kobe so far this year. He might not be doing great, but he isn't doing that bad either. He is a rookie, but he is hustling hard and not conceding anything no matter who they are.
I can see why he has the nickname "junkyard dog". He is gaining my respect. If he can start making a few more shots, the grizz could have a nice role player that every team needs.
nope. this team would be lucky to win 24 games again.
They would've won last night but Mayo decided to take the night off.

At this point in the young National Basketball Association season, the Memphis Grizzlies will have thirty wins in the end. Many Grizzlies fans were to overoptimistic regarding thirty five wins this season, including myself.
