There have been so many reports about people getting robbed around campus and some on campus. I just dont get it. Why dont they just make the U of M cops patrol around the neighborhoods to provide extra security. I hope Shirley Raines' inbox is flooded with angry emails from parents, students, and alumni demanding they do something about this. I mean whats next, shootings? Its not hard to determine what color does this, but whoever the new mayor is (we find out tonight...probably AC) they better have crime as their #1 issue to tackle.... if not I will move to Nashville where all the good people live and hardly any thugs.

You've never been to the North Side of Nashville.

The University police do patrol in the area around the University. They operate south of Poplar, west of Goodlett, north of Park and east of Highland.

You may want to pipe down with the racial code words.

wrong forum you racist jackass.
Ok first im a white male, but i dont think it was very smart of you to put the quote "its not hard to determine what color does this?" i mean really does that need to be said on here. whos to say who did this??

i mean were the #2 crime city in the coutnry, is it not obvious that crime is a big issue??

This quote doesn't do much for a well-known poster's view that UTK has racial problems and we're doing just fine in that regard. Wow.

You said "so many reports" you have your "facts" about two. That doesn't mean that every robbery committed is by a black person, if you think that your very naive.

The UofM is the safest campus in the State. And that's coming from cops who actually report ALL crimes like the FBI wants.
and one last thing, all of these white people who are calling me racist do the same exact stereotyping on their own time, you are just trying to make yourself look good on this board by calling out someone who pointed out the obvious.... everybody knows what crimes are done by certain people in this city and its been this way for decades

people of all colors commit crimes...
Hey, we got crime here too!!

From staff reports

A student at Texas Christian University was sexually assaulted late Tuesday on campus, according to reports.

The woman told police that the suspect approached her from behind while she was walking outdoors in the 2900 block of South University Drive. The suspect forced her into a dark area and then assaulted her, a news release said.

The woman reported the attack about 9 p.m. to TCU police, who took her to John Peter Smith Hospital, according to reports. The investigation was subsequently joined by the Fort Worth Police Department.

The student told investigators that the attacker is a white man in his early 20s, with medium-length, straight blond hair and moles on the right side of his face.

He wore dark blue jeans and a dark-colored, short-sleeved T-shirt with a circle on the front, according to a report from TCU.

The assault appears to be unrelated to other crimes in the TCU area, police said.

Last week, TCU officials reported that police were investigating an Oct. 1 report from a student who said she might have been slipped a date-rape drug in an alcoholic beverage and sexually assaulted on Sept. 17.
The worse the economey gets the more crimes being committed.

The point being made about this statement isn't whether they were white or black. Yes, they were black. The report said they were black. The point is, there is absolutely no reason to include this statement. That's why people are calling you a racist.

Why not just say, "Whoever the new mayor is...." and leave the color out of it?
yeah, I hope the mods delete this one.

Relatives at MTSU and in Nashville. If you think this is a Memphis problem then you don't know much about the rest of the world. Crime is bad and I do agree that something needs to be done but this thread has some real issues with the context. Criminals are bad regardless of what, where or who they are. Let's hope things get better both economically and politically...

By the way, Cosby was very funny and I wish they had more time.

No comparison in Leno to Letterman, Leno's show is not one of my favorites. The reason I liked Cos was that I haven't seen him to do true stand up since the special they did many years ago. Brings back good memories.

WoooooooooWWWWWwww. I cant believe he just said that
Like Memphis, Nashville has been in the top 10 in violent crime among cities 500,000+ for a few years now (though I think they may be just outside it according to the latest ranking). At any rate, the crime problem is very much in full swing even in the apparently utopian Nashville. You (the OP) clearly speak from ignorance, among other things.
