I would always hope to have at least 1 walk on. In most years we do and we've had some good ones. They used to have a student try out night although I haven't heard if they still do that or not.

The only walk-on that I ever remember contributing in a significant manner is III. We've probably had a few, but they had to be minor players. Our program has elevated to the point where it's unusual for a walk on to make the team. III is the exception. Far from the rule.

They couldn't make the team this season. No offense, but our talent level, overall is much better. Coach Barron, our strength coach, said that there are scholarship players who have contributed some in the past, who couldn't make the squad this season. I'm telling you guys. Our talent level, from one to thirteen, is much higher than at any time I can remember. I'm not saying our starting five will be the best since I've been a fan. That remains to be seen. But I will say our first thirteen is by far the best.

There is nothing strange about that comment. We have had a bunch of scholarship players over the past twenty some odd years that couldn't have made some of the local high school teams. Let's face it, we've had some real duds.

To be respectful of the young men who did their best, but didn't pan out, it might be more politically correct to say they were somewhat "non productive".

It might be, but I don't worry about political correctness. I just call it as I see it.
