Political satire has been around longer than the country has been around. Every president has been lampooned in one way or another, even George Washington. Why should Obama be any different? It comes with the job.

And assuming that a recruit might look at this message board, and read a thread about themselves, aren't you doing as much damage by drawing attention to it, even if you are assuming that they are Obama supporters.

Political satire I can deal with. But I'd say any honest, objective take on such dreck will detect a qualitative difference. Plus, it's just really, really stupid.

I personally find the signature offensive. However, I am a strong believer in freedom of speech, so I tolerate it. Whether it’s his rebel flag or his outright demeaning of the president of our country, at least I know where he comes from. I wish this board wasn't the place he chose to air his political views. This is supposed to be a place that unites Blazer Fans, but there is nothing more divisive than politics and religion. As a pastor, I could inundate this board with my religious views, but I don't. This is not my pulpit (unless the topic is so centered).

Why is it that every time someone puts up a "Recruit visiting UAB" post it has to be turned into a circus? I know that "Welcome, you'll love UAB, we'd be happy to have you here" is kinda bland, but surely it's better for recruiting than turning some recruit's visiting post on our fan board into a pissing match.

Just a thought. Sheesh, c'mon guys.

It wasn't anti Davis sentiment that started it this time. Someone decided to get political and picked this thread to pick a fight.

Since the mods have been so quick to split off derailments or anything that they "didn't like where it was headed" in the past, they probably could have saved this thread and split off the "How dare you hate on Obama" derailment that spun into a freedom of speech thing.

Great. Ever since I've turned off sigs, threads like this make no sense to me at all.

You can still click on someone's handle to go to their profile page, and you can see their avatar/sigs there. That's what I did so I would know what was going on.
