When you refer to "better fans" are you referring to ones who act like psychos on message boards and attention whores at HH meetings?
Shame on you for that mess of a statement grammer wise.
You need to get off your high horse and stop calling out tiger fans. Do you think you are the best memphis fan in the world? I'm guessing the answer is yes, but you are not. If people don't won't to come, so be it. It's their choice to how they spend their weekends. Football has 15,000 hardcore fans. It's been like this for a while.
The Tigers have outstanding fans, and I have stated that before. When we win they come. Alabama and Auburn have their share of bellyachers here in my neck of the woods, so I would think it illogical that we would not.
However, I do wonder why we play a very nice game and everybody comes on here and starts taking pot shots at each other. I think we should just enjoy the win, and we can get back to degrading each other Monday.
I am ashamed. Ashamed I read any of your posts.

Yep, If Tigerkeep was a real fan he would not continually go out of his way to run off all the 'so-called' fans (who are, in his opinion, everybody that's not 100% supportive of the school and the current coaching staff).
Tigerkeep has probably pissed off and permanently run off many, many times the number of people that he has brought into the Tiger fold. He's actually a LIABILITY and not an ASSET; nowhere close.

Good grief we WON THE GAME! Is that all you can think about?
it is amazing how sensitive many people on this board are to the slightest criticism. when i am criticized i usually respond. if the criticism is waranted i admit it. if the criticism is personal i sometimes respond in kind. if the criticism does not address the subject i will sometimes point that out.
many times i have been the object of personal attacks that have questioned my right to make observations like the one i did at the top of this thread, or that question my character, my sanity, my manhood. on many occasions those post are illogical and often they are disgusting. to quote shakespeare's king lear, "i am a man more sinned against than sinning."
there is a mob mentality on this board, if i stand up to it i do so on principle. not because i think it will stop, but because i think it is wrong.
Come on I seem to remember someone telling me to "dont let it hit ya where the good lord split ya". I think you've deserved everything you've received with such foolishness.

thank you stacie, i will attempt to explain by addressing your elipsical statements (just a bad pun, no offense intended).
i have no intent in offending anyone when i start a thread like this one. non of our statements and non of the threads on this board exist in a vacuum. there have been a few posters on this board lately who have stated that they will not be attending any more games for one reason or another, but still claim to be loyal fans. my statement was just that i see their behaviour differently. i am usually not offended if someone has a different opinion than mine. if my tone seems condescending that is a fault that many of us can admit to, but it is not one to which i aspire.
imo opinion there is a mob mentality on this board. i believe coach west to be a very good football coach who has, is, and will continue to serve this team and this university well. there is mindset by some that he will not be, or hasnt been, isnt, or (in some extreme cases) never was the right coach. i am not trying to start a mob mentality by disagreeing with those who think that. it does seem to me that there is a mob who believe they are the only ones who have a right to an opinion or that if i or any one else disagrees with that opinion it is time to pile on.
i do believe that the vast majority (not necessarily a mob) on this board want the best for the tigers, even my most virulent attackers. what we disagree upon is what is best. i know that sometimes i become a lightning rod in the storm. i do wish more people agreed with my opinions, that is why i place them into the arena of public discourse.
p s in this case my offense was saying, "shame on you if you boycotted the game or hoped for a loss." then i went on to briefly explain why i thought so. i am uncomfortable but not surprised by the response by some people who responded, at this point i am used to discomfort.

Fair enough. I know you are passionate about the Tigers and West, just a suggesstion that West keeps it all above board, and it would serve us all well to do that. Dude, really.......

It's simple. I went because I wanted to. It turned out to be a pretty good game. We won. I went home happy and satisfied, this time. This is Tiger football. You can never make people do anything they don't want to do, especially trying to make it civic duty to go. It just won't work.

I was thankful for getting a free ticket since someone wasn't going. And I got my pick of seats. I straddled the 50 yrd line the whole game with quick access to the men's room. So, yes it looks bad to have a near empty stadium, but boy it sure is convenient to those that are still going, IMO.
And may I add, I LOVE NIGHT GAMES!!!!! We rarely played day games when I was going as an undergrad; wished we would go back to having all night games until it gets too cold, like around NOV.

Most everyone in my section, including the baseball staff, jetted before halftime.
Empty kempty. Lots of big $$$ seats for the taking on Sat.
big crowd for homecoming.
give us a little more credit than that...the picture is of the "visitor" side.

At halftime. Not many there obviously, but let's not try to make it look worse than it was.

If I was in my usual seat, I could have taken a less than full home side as well. Even from my in-laws seats, there were tons of open spaces down low on the home side. No one in their section minded us crashing the party. Mainly because they didn't show. By halftime sec. 107 was deserted.
I took the pic mostly to focus on the chair back seats on the visitors side. Those are season ticket holders despite being on that side. Some of which have been for a long long time. I guess it was just too cold for most to come. I consider them die-hards, maybe they aren't?
The visitor section is 116/115 ish. And UTEP had about 20+ fans for the game that I could tell (maybe more). All of which MOVED DOWN to the front row and closer to the goal line.
I was impressed with the students. Their numbers remained solid even after the homecoming court was announced at halftime.
oh, i agree with you, pop... i was in a group of about 15 and we sat in a block down low on the home side. i was commenting on fsquid's remark about the crowd, and just wanted to point out that the pic showed the "worse of 2 evils", so to speak.

the announced crowd was 18k. my question is if the tigers sold 20k season tkts why was a lower figure given as the attendance. could it be that 18k was the true attendance #. just wondering. not stating any facts that i am in on.
it was a dissapointing crowd for homecomming, but considering the chatter i have read on this board recently i was suprised by the # that did turn out.
it is kind of like the election of obama. when interviewed most white people in america say they are not racist. when they are asked about their neighbors they tend to think that most are racist. when the final tally was taken, many people in other parts of the nation had to rethink their position. maybe their neighbors arent racist after all.
in the case of tiger fans i have stated and still believe the tigers have the greatest fans in the world. the fact that there are so many who claim to be fans, but dont talk or act like fans is our problem. if all of those who claim to be fans would join with the rest of us and attend the games win or lose, rain or shine, against sun-belt or bcs the tigers would have better fans. which is what i believe they deserve.
if not for our tigers there would be no div 1 football team in memphis. they represnt my alma mata and to a great degree they represent this city. they do it on a shoestring, without complaint. i support them as do the vast majority of you. i just wish that those who claim to be tiger fans would do it instead of just say it.
what are you talking about? what does any of this have to do with obama and race?

You need to get off your high horse and stop calling out tiger fans. Do you think you are the best memphis fan in the world? I'm guessing the answer is yes, but you are not. If people don't won't to come, so be it. It's their choice to how they spend their weekends. Football has 15,000 hardcore fans. It's been like this for a while.
grammar
You got me.
Tigerkeep, i'm not sensitive to what you said and it's really no sweat off my back if you want to be an a$$, but i'm just tired of reading your numerous threads calling out fans.
on this board spelling errors are correctable with the edit feature. in this case i think you spelled want like you say it; as in: i wont tommy west fired. whereas, i would say: i want tommy west to be our coach for as long as we are fortunate enough to have him.
ps i have never claimed nor do i believe myself to be, "the best memphis fan in the world." larry finch, will hudgens, and many of you are much better fans than i. i am what am, a tiger fan.
I buy football tickets, but I don't buy basketball tickets (they seem to be okay). I donate them to the Boys Club. Just for the record, I'm a hoops fan.
