So here's the deal..

Basically, I just turned 30, and I'm freshening things up in my sports world.

I'm bored to death with the same old "local" teams, and I'm ready to throw my support behind a new NFL team and a new MLB team.

Not including the NBA on this. I gotta stick with the Grizzlies, mainly because they're actually a Memphis team.

I'm not a champ chaser. I ain't going to the Patriots, the Steelers, etc..

But this has definitely gotta last me at least the next ten years. When I turn 40, I'll reevaluate things.

So who's it gonna be, folks? 04-cheers
Well, i have been following the panthers lately due to deangelo. I wouldn't suggest jumping on that bandwagon right now. 03-lol
See, I tried the Panthers when they first picked up DW, and I realized I am NOT a fan of NFC football, for whatever reason.

I guess that narrows things down a little bit for the NFL...lol
Titans and Cardinals for me

Titans - I started following them as soon as the announcement was made they were coming to TN. I consider myself a "founding member" of the fanbase because ive been rooting for them since they played in the Liberty Bowl for one season. This year, however, is tough to get on the bandwagon. Jeff Fisher runs a tight ship as well and always has good things to say about every situation.

Cardinals - 2nd in total World Series titles with 10 (Yankees with 26). One of the few programs that develops young talent and uses them which makes having their AAA affiliate here in town much more fun as you get to see players raised here and then become integral parts of the organization. Its regionally accurate as far as closest to Memphis. I think the Cardinal fans are the nicest and humble as possibly any fans of any professional sports team.

Theres some quick points for my teams.
Yankees.

The best ever.
American League baseball sucks...go NL, HLT! Of course I agree with homefry about the Cards. I've followed them since I was a kid, listening to Jack most nights from the radio on my night stand. Plus I have two words for you: Albert Freaking Pujols. OK, so it was three words, but you just can't say his name without adding his middle name. 03-lmfao

As for the NFL, I've been a Saints fan since i was a kid and have seen them a few times during a Tigers/Wave football weekend. Man I hope this is the year!!! I started pulling for the Patriots in the mid-80s. All of my buddies from Halls that were in Richardson Towers had their own team from the AFC East. Somebody had the Jets, another the Dolphins, etc. Nobody was a Patriots fan, so I decided to pull for them that year. Ironically, that was 1986 when the Pats went to the Super Bowl against Da Bears...I've been hooked ever since. Unlike the Saints, I've only seen the Patriots just once in person. Ironically (#2), it was in New Orleans seven years ago for their first ever Super Bowl!!!
COWBOYS COWBOYS COWBOYS, the only bandwagon worth jumpin on
Since the teams you follow must suck, stay away from my teams. They're both doing good for once.

Maybe they should have jumped on Brandon Marshall yesterday?

Just a thought
I'll give it a shot.

Atlanta Braves:

Great young rotation. They're poised to be very good on the bump for a long time. That's worked out well for them so far. Great history, although they should certainly have more WS rings. Also, it's hard not to root for Bobby Cox. The hitting has improved, and we're not due to lose any major talent any time soon, other than Chipper retiring in the next three or four years. That, however, opens the door for the Braves to spend the money he's getting paid on a legit prime of their career hitter. You also get to root against the Mets and Phillies, which just feels good.

Dallas Cowboys:

NO one in football spends money like Jerry. That's a good/bad thing, and it's never dull being a fan of the Boys. They have talent all over the field and an exciting group of playmakers. They have history, five super bowls. They've won back to back super bowls twice, and were the first team to win 3 of 4. It's coming again, there's just a temporary drought.

All that being said, it's hard to argue with the logic in favor of the Cards.

Cardinals.
Driving distance.
Good food.
Six Flags, Zoo, Science Center, Arch, City Museum, Grant's Farm, Ted Krewe's. the cave for the kids.
Brewery for you. Two free samples.
Best player in baseball.

Even grandmothers wear Cardinal gear to the games.

The man has a Yes-We-Can Jobu for an avatar. You can't possibly disagree with his clearly inspired choice of a baseball team. Upsetting Jobu would be a very bad idea.

I've been a Cardinals fan my entire life, but now with the AAA affiliate in Memphis, there's even more reason to root for them.
I know you said no NFC, but:

Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Pittsburgh Pirates

Cool fan memorabilia, same theme (the jolly roger), and both in rebuilding which means things can only go up from here.

Denver's D is awesome and that game was at Mile High. The Giants are the best team in football right now. Plus, if Tony Ho..eer...ROMO doesn't play two of the worst games of his career, we win one of if not both of those. They're not the best team in the league, but they're not awful.

Tony Homo will have many more bad games because he sucks like Hoover vacuum. the Titans will finish with a better record...Book IT

The Pirates have been rebuilding for 19 years.

03-lol I was thinking the same thing. But I do hope they improve soon. Baseball is always more enjoyable to me when the long-time franchises are competitive. Except the Cubs. The Cubs' losing is one of Baseball's oldest and most sacred traditions.

I was the Jets guy, they are fun to root for. I also like the Saints, they would be good.

I lived in Houston in the 90's and had Oilers season tickets, when Bud Adams moved the team to Tennessee. Like most Oilers fans, I was ticked. Then, after all those years of Memphis fighting for an NFL franchise, Adams put Nashville's team in Memphis for one season. Memphians were insulted, and rightly stayed away in droves, and basically that forever killed the NFL in Memphis. This franchise crapped on me as a Houstonian and as a Memphian. I will never be a Titans fan.

For MLB, I'm all about the Cardinals. If you want an alternate choice, the Houston Astros are alright. I don't like AL ball either, but if I had to pick a team, I'd go Texas Rangers.
