As fantastical as the claim appears, I think I remember a very similar system used by UAT boosters to funnel cash to Albert Means' coach in a Tunica casino.
Within the past couple of years, a lady won a $40 million jackpot at VictoryLand, only to have the casino management approach her and tell her she didn't really win, the machine had just malfunctioned. She took them to court and got $9-point-something million, but they still managed to sleaze their way out of $30 mil.
Obviously, if machines can be "rigged" to pay off on demand, they can be rigged to NOT pay off in certain situations. Belief in the act of rigging for whatever purpose would be damaging to the business which is dependent on public confidence of a fair deal. It is well known that even in Vegas, the machines are adjusted to protect the welfare of the "house".
