"Have you ever visited a communist country? I have. No food on the shelves in the cities. Checkpoints on all the roads leading into the city to prevent farmers from bringing the food they grew on their own little plot of land around their house to the town to sell. The 3% of the farmland that is privately owned producing over 50% of the crops. Ration coupons good for 8 gallons of gasoline PER MONTH in a country that exports oil. Getting up in the middle of each night to cook your food because they only allow you 2-3 hours of natural gas per day, so you have to cook your food for the day while you heat your home at night. Some government official deciding whether you deserve to get medical care that you need, and when you no longer merit being kept alive. Someone listening to every word you speak, reading your email, tracking your internet use, listening to your cell phone calls, tracking your every movement and purchase. When a government takes over all the industries such as banks, cars, medicine and energy, when they turn public schools into centers for political indoctrination and no values, when they pass an unconstitutional Patriot Act to allow themselves to spy on you without warrant, when they spend far more money than they have to destroy the value of the dollar and enslave you - that's called communist dictatorship. If you think that is a good idea, ask any Russian citizen who lived under that idiocy during the period 1917 to 1991, or anyone who lived in a country under Russian control in that era. Then educate yourself by reading the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution. Compare what those documents say to what our government is doing. "

Good review of communism, and why most former communist (or socialist) are know greens. Communism failed due to the systems inability to efficiently calculate supply and demand. So now government intervention is needed to save the plant.
the modern environmental (save the planet) movement is the new home of the worlds socialists/communists/collectivists.
Gee, which president/party passed the Patriot Act and which one supports repealing some of it's provisions or letting it sunset?
the dems have control of the whitehouse and both houses of congress.
if they wanted to get rid of the patriot act, they could.
that should tell you something. but, you don't want to see it.

I agree both parties suck, but that doesn't mean one can't focus their criticism on the party that is currently in charge. Since the differences between the republicans and democrats are mainly stylistic defense of one party by saying the others sucks more is pretty weak.
There WAS a time when political parties had beliefs that translated into actions when that party had control. There WAS a time when members of Congress WROTE bills instead of having them brought to them by lobbyists whose lawyers now do the actual writing and all the member of Congress does is "drop it into the hopper". There WAS a time when a bill could be delivered to the "Hill" in an envelope rather than in boxes needing a hand truck or even a fork-lift.

There WAS a time when a candidate and a few close friends could finance a run for office. Now the costs have spiraled so high that only people who can draw on people with millions of dollars (and an economic / political agenda) can afford to run--even for state and local offices. Political speeches were like a real meal of "meat and potatoes", but now they are primarily full of "sound bites" like our fast food--lots of fat and calories but little real food value.

Which one not only continued, but expanded the scope of "warrantless wiretapping" after campaigning against it?

Which one hired a vendor to harvest information from social networking sites?

Which one has seized control of businesses?

Which party just killed a proposal to bring accountability and oversight to the unconstitutional appointed 'czar' positions?

Do I need to continue? Nah, it's not like you'll answer anyways.
Yes, I have.

Thankfully, things are changing there.
