Ya'll are without a doubt a true basketball school (not that this was ever in doubt to be quite honest). I was at the UAB/TROY basketball game in Troy last November and UAB brought around 1,000 fans to Trojan Arena. At the football game this past Saturday, there might have been 200 UAB fans at Movie Gallery Veterans Stadium. I was expecting more UAB fans at the football game because of it being early in the season and because it was the first time since 2006 that our respective teams have played one another.

I was too, blame it on the weather recently.
200? That’s funny because on my tour of your facilities one of the Troy Officials commented on how much green there was and complimented me on our traveling party. Now I will confess it was a smaller crowd than the last time we came but I will argue the only 200.
Section 105: 25 seats x 20 rows=500.
Definitely more than 200. Not nearly as many as our last visit to Troy. I would say with the band between 500 to 750.

You posting this on our board just goes along with the countless number of classless displays by you inbred troy fans we had to put up with all week. Quit posting on our board, we handed yall the game and you took it...big deal, it really wasnt because of anything yall did. Schumann and our secondary have been and unfortunately will probably continue to make teams look like that against us all year. And by the way, this was my first game to attend at Troy and I will never go back. I graduated from Bama and sat in the greek section so I know a thing or two about fans lacking class, but these were by far the worst fans I have ever seen. Those stupid drunk a$$holes screamed curses at the bench and anyone on the sideline more than they watched the game. They even started heckling me and my 69 year old dad telling him that he sucks and calling him a gay slur. As far as I am concerned every troy state fan can go to hell, and I hope yall blow that cushy conference known as the sunbelt.

What a nice post there Mr. Bammer! Why the "inbred" reference? I bet I have twice the education that you have and earn a higher salary (betcha, I do.). UAB/UA fans don't have the market cornered on culture believe you me. How do you expect drunk Greeks to behave at a college football game? It's not great that they behave the way that they do, but that's what they do. If you think Troy students/Greeks are bad, then you haven't experienced LSU or Ole Miss students. I just pointed out how poorly your fans attended this particular game; that's all my post was intended to do. I didn't mean any harm. Basketball, UAB is first class in spirit and loyalty; football, not so much.

So what. I know many UAB fans who make plenty of away games, but refused to go to Troy.

The reason we had a good turnout for the basketball game is because you guys emptied the town and went with the football team to Louisiana that day. We had a home game that day.

Why would true fans refuse to attend a certain game? That's a little bizarre. Wouldn't they have enjoyed a fairly short road trip to play an instate team in a nice stadium? What could beat that?

True - our football game at LSU messed up our basketball attendance, but that didn't affect UAB bringing a boatload of folks. A few of us commented during that game about the UAB fan support and how we wished that Troy had that type of spirit for basketball. We have a great basketball tradition on the court, but we don't have good basketball fans. I love college basketball; I was the manager/student assistant coach for the basketball team for four years at Troy in the early years of Division One back in the mid to late '90s.

For the record, I didn't intend for this thread to turn into a "smack" thread until that goofy fool a couple of posts above turned it into one.
The weather was crappy and the pratfall we took against SMU took a lot of wind out of our fans.

Also, whether you think so or not, there are some among our fan base who don't like the Troy series and begrudge any dollar spent in Pike county. You may think it bizarre, but nonetheless it is true.

We played like crap, and our folks are still angry and depressed about that as well. None of that is offered as an excuse, y'all beat us soundly. OTOH, y'all are not nearly as good as we made you look. Shrug. Some of the bile is a result of our disappointment in our performance.

Re the basketball attendance, it was a road game close to home, a chance to cheer a team that we were expecting to be very good, and with you guys playing LSU that day we knew we could make it a home game. We did, we flat owned that crackerbox. It was fun.

Well said, I agree.

There will be a repeat of that at JSU this season when we own that place.
