Nice.
Young surprises McNair's sons
Quote:For one day at least, Vince Young stepped up to try to fill the void for the late Steve McNair's two young sons, the Tennessean reported Thursday.
Young surprised 11-year-old Trenton and 5-year-old Tyler on Wednesday by showing up at their house and taking them to their school's "Dear Dads Breakfast" at a local restaurant
"Those are my boys," Young told the Tennessean. "I wouldn't say it was to pay anyone back; it was just out of love. Steve would do it for me. He pretty much did it for me when I was growing up. I have a history with the boys and I want to do anything I can. I am their big brother."
He just scored many cool points with me. I think I can begin to forget the "Ill be the next black qb in the hall of fame" comment he made earlier in the year. This isnt about sports, its about being a man. Well done Vince, well done.
He needs to be taking snaps on Sundays if the Titans want to go anywhere, but what do I know? I'm a Buc fan.
Jeff Fisher has Willie Kemped him.

First of all....nice move by VY on taking McNair's kids to breakfast...he stepped up.
As to on the field....Young was horrible and made it to the NFL based on one game. He showed again in the preseason why he is on the bench....I'll agree that Collins isn't the long term answer, but he has gone to the Super Bowl before (people tend to forget that...lol).
I look for the Titans to try and draft a QB this year and maybe try to move VY (which they did this offseason and found no takers- which should tell you something).

It's good to see VY show some maturity like this and take the lead in filling in for these boys' father who sadly cannot be there for them anymore. Just hope he stays with it whether he stays in Nashville in the future or not.
BTW, if you'd like to see the Titans' home opener vs. Houston Texans this Sunday, I have a pair of NINTH ROW tickets in the north endzone for sale. See my post on Tiger Bay Exchange board.
Class act move by Vince Young...I can only imagine how great it was to have someone there (for the sons) since their own father couldn't be with them after such a tragic situation. Good for him.

Very very cool move by Vince.
Vince unfortunately has failed in making it in the NFL, but if you really think that he made it to the NFL based on one game, you are an idiot. That guy was a freaking STUD in college. One of the best college football players I've ever seen............and I saw most of his games. Unfortunately college doesn't always translate to NFL.
I'm an "idiot" like Jeff Fisher, and most other top NFL brass then.
It is WIDELY known that JF didn't think VY could play in the NFL...and while he may have been on the radar, his stock only soared after what was a remarkable performance in the Rose Bowl. I think Vince was a good college player....and you're right there are lots of times that doesn't translate to the NFL

Just a good college player?
I don't care what JF thought, I'm going on the quote that it was ONE game that got him in the NFL.

I don't think that Tebow will be an NFL player either, but you have to say he is one of the greatest college football players of all-time. Vince Young had way more than ONE good game. He was an unstoppable force in college and maybe the best football player to ever play at the University of Texas. I'm not even in the minority on that one.

Vince Young has not made it in the NFL and will not make it for the Tennessee Titans. Vince has to go to another team to have a real chance of being a quarterback in the National Football League.
It seems some people are forgetting how dominant Vince was in College. Unfortunately, he's just not a prototypical NFL QB. Either that or he has been mishandled by Fisher.

Maybe he will get it with a new team, but I do not think that will happen in the end. If Vince Young, does figure it out, I think he will have to change the way he plays qb. With his sucess as a college quarterback in the University of Texas at Austin, I would not doubt he will have a sucessful business career in Texas after his playing days are over.
I think VY has a career winning record as a starter. The Titans started 0-5 (IIRC) his 1st season with Collins at the helm and he stepped in and lead them to 9-7. His second season he lead the team to a 9-7 record and a 1st round playoff loss. Last year, he got injured, had some weird issues, and Collins started and got off to a hot start and never relinquished the starting job. I think he's like 17-10 as a starter, MUCH better than a lot of qbs in the league. And he's never had any good receivers to throw to.

I totally agree with your analysis of what has happened with the Tennessee Titans during the Vince Young era, but the National Football League is a what have you done for me lately kind of league. I believe Hall of Famer Joe Montana lost his job to HOF Steve Young, and he got the starting quarterback position for the San Francisco 49ers among other examples.
VY would have won that game today.

I agree with you on that fact, Vince Young would have definitely won that game yesterday, in my humble opinion. I hope next year quarterback, for even with Collins the Tennessee Titans still miss something at the qb position.

You're right about Fisher's thoughts on Young, but had they not drafted VY, it would have been Matt Leinart. Damned if you do, damned if you don't.

I know the former USC offensive coordinator Norman Chow would have indeed taken Matt Leinart in the National Football League 2005 draft. You never know if he would have done better with tow good running backs and a good offensive line. The wide receivers at the Arizona Cardinals are much better, but that is about it for the team in Glendale, Arizona.
