The latest rumor is that the Big East, the ACC, and C-USA are -- all three of them -- going to merge into one gigantic 32-team superconference for football. Then they will split up into two less-gigantic, but still very big, conferences of 16 teams each. The split will work out like so (I'll call the two leagues "A" and "B" for sake of convenience:
"A"
Boston College
Connecticut
Syracuse
Rutgers
Pittsburgh
Maryland
Virginia
North Carolina
Duke
Wake Forest
Georgia Tech
Miami (FL)
Tulane
Rice
SMU
Tulsa
"B"
Louisville
Cincinnati
West Virginia
Marshall
Virginia Tech
East Carolina
North Carolina State
Clemson
Florida State
UCF
USF
UAB
Memphis
Southern Miss
Houston
UTEP
The 8 BE basketball schools will be their own separate league. Keep this quiet for now
the official announcement comes six months after you read this.
