Watching "Sooner Football 2009" and Bob Stoops is reviewing Sat.'s game against Idaho St. He commented "We had some missed assignments and bad plays." Then a little later, he said "We've got some things to get corrected before we play Tulsa."
No wonder he lost to Texas and then to Florida in the National Championship game last year and so far to BYU this season. Everybody knows that any remotely competent college football coach has his players performing flawlessly right out of the gate. Stoops must get bailed out by playing such a cupcake schedule and having 1/4 of his roster as future NFLers.
Now he just said "Our challenge is to keep making improvements week to week." Fire him now! He just admitted that his team is not performing ideally in the 2nd week of the season. He can't coach! It's obvious to anyone who isn't a Stoops-lover. Recruited that fragile QB Sam Bradford, now look at what that got him. He'll probably lose another game this year.
Not Tiger related. And the title makes it seem like you were talking about Calipari.
I hope this is a metaphor, but then again I really hope it's not.
I'm willing to give a guy a break when his record is this:
1999 Oklahoma 7–5
2000 Oklahoma 13–0
2001 Oklahoma 11–2
2002 Oklahoma 12–2
2003 Oklahoma 12–2
2004 Oklahoma 12–1
2005 Oklahoma 8–4
2006 Oklahoma 11–3
2007 Oklahoma 11–3
2008 Oklahoma 12–2
I would trade Tommy West for Bob Stoops. Hell, I think if Tommy's dad were AD at Memphis then he, too, would trade Tommy for Bob Stoops.
I realize you are trying to be facetious, but the situations are in no way comparable. Bob is stating his team needs to improve after beating Idaho State by 64 points and holding them to 44 yards of total offense. Chances are, OU will beat Tulsa w/o getting things corrected before Saturday. Tommy, on the other hand, was just dominated by a Sun Belt squad and seriously needs to get things corrected if he plans on beating UT-M.
Now that is a proper analogy.
Giving Bob Stoops more room than Tommy West for a slow start.
When West leads Memphis to a National Championship, 3 other National Championship games, 6 Big Twelve South Championships, and BCS Bowls nearly every year, then maybe he will have earned the same leeway that Stoops has.
Believe me, if our coach gets us to title games and BCS games, and we win a few then lose several, I think we will take it.
This was not a good point.

Worst comparison ever.
That could be the biggest stretch of an analogy in the history of message boards.

I would not call getting paid for 2 or 3 years after you get canned a grinding halt

There is no comparison...wait...yes I see the comparison...Bob Stoops initials are BS and Coach TW is full of BS each week.
Rack'em! This thread is over!!

nice
Oh....this was not a good way to make any point you might have had about TW's coaching abilities. (or lack thereof)

back off my sooners, calling Bradford fragile? i think u too would have a ****** up shoulder if a 230+ lineman jumped on you

Now Mike Leach is at it. When asked about the Red Raiders' performance in their blowout win over Rice, he said "Well, we had some players takes steps backwards." Then later when asked about preparations this week, he said "We've just got to keep getting better week to week and come together as a football team."
And all this time, I thought it was just Tommy West who had these issues.

Bradford is fragile...even NFL scouts say that's his one weakness...It's OK though...He's going to be a very rich man in a few months...
