Did anyone see his crack shot below the waist on hardy? Just wanted to see what y'all thought about that. Thanks.

No offense to Calhoun, but he is a waste of talent at U of M. Throw some darn jump balls into the end zone to him haha.

It was AT the waist, he then slid down and Hardy got pushed over him. I've watched it about 5 times now.

Anyone have the video of it? Just looked and couldn't find it, but I saw a clip of Calhoun making a punk move by pushing one of the OM players in the head and knocking him down.

Not to mention dude takes a swing at our CB and our guy gets PI. That's the worst call I've ever seen in a game ever.

Calhoun is a punk bitch who chose Memphis over Ole Miss and went 0-4 to show for it. Thank God this series against this thug, transfer/reject team is over.
There was nothing illegal about that block dumb a$$es. Even the announcers said if you are in the box that block is legal. For you dumb Ole Sh1t fans a box is "A container typically constructed with four sides perpendicular to the base".

We're equally glad the series is over. Your team is certainly not devoid of thugs, by the way.

Tough to develop empathy for a fan of a thug school that took pride in admitting two students, Oher and Powe, that were both considered functional illiterates. Most Memphis fans here that noticed Calhoun throw a punch or the like called for him being tossed. That is a helluva lot more than any missippi fan would call for if a missippi kid was caught doing something stupid. Instead they celebrate illiterates bein admitted to play football. Take your mock righteous indignation and shove it up your tightly puckered a$$.

We watched missippi kids taunting all game long. The very pedestrian Snead looked confused all games but taunted like a schoolgirl when he threw a late TD pass against a defense that stopped playing (gotta protect that over rating).

Who cares.

Calhoun is a great kid that does not need some trolling moron throwing crap his way. With so much recent experience at being just an awful team it is no surprise that many missippi players and fans are unable to handle the success of actually surviving a very 4th quarter competitive game with that SEC power...Memphis.
Maybe we can restart the b-ball rivalry against Ole Miss.

You're clueless. Powe has passed three years of college. I bet he can read. Oher never had any academic issues at all. In fact Oher was on the Chancellor's honor roll on more than occasion. The guy is smart.

Calhoun almost quit your team and is throwing punches at CBs cause he can't get off the line. He's a punk on the football field. It is unreal for any Memphis fan to call Ole Miss a bad football team. Snead celebrated with his team. If you want to call that taunting whatever. You're team is awful and it always will be.

It ain't just Rebels that are crying about it.

It wasn't even on a pass play- it was one of those 'legal' dirty plays.
Both Oher and Powe were functional illiterates when missippi admitted them to study and play football at the university.

With academic department help and a lot of money they seemingly did OK- as far as jocks do when a school is so desperate to win. This is old news, but reading a troll spew righteous indignation when he was proud of his school for admitting 2 kids who could not read beyond an elementary school level smacks of crap.

We will handle Calhoun and seemingly have done nothing but universlly condemn a few of his actions. Something we would never see a missippi fan do in similar circumstances. Hell you are still embracing your university for admitting illiterates. Because man those boys can play football!

Do we really care about the players' ability to read. No. Let's just all put our cards on the table and be honest. Most fans, when it boils down to it, do not care. If they did, college sports and college football would not be the cesspool of hypocrisy that it is.

And it is. And most of us love it. And so do most hypocritical college fans. Sure there are the naive who sincerely believe in the altruisms that today are given mere lip service. We prey on these athletes for our entertainment. And their "stewards"? The coaches and administrators make millions off of their backs. And their legs. And their arms. They could care less about what goes on between the ears. That's icing on the cake, and they're on diets.

So let's get real about what fans know, and can put money behind, and can actually believe. They cannot believe much about any coach or administrator's word about the academic integrity of an athletic program. Especially if it has reached any semblance of success. And especially if it's a public institution.

Fans who give verbal support to the lies, are gleeful, intentionally disingenuous co-conspirators in the charade. And there are millions of fans who would rather promote athletic prowess than acknowledge the academic shortcomings of their programs. I hope you are right about Powe. I would not be honest with myself if I expressed any faith in it. I see 1) an SEC school/a school in the South; 2) seeking athletic prestige. That equals shortcuts and lip service.

And the student athletes will suffer for it. Already, this year research has been published that shows that NFL players exceed the other leagues in rates of bankruptcy and divorce. What that shows is the failure of the alma maters and the leagues to provide players who leave school (no g-word for me) and/or enter leagues with an understanding of money management and importance of getting a legitimate diploma that will help you get a trade [edit: not a trade between franchises, but a career]. Because, for an NFL player, as we all know, the average career is something like 3 years.

Let's wake up as fans and be honest with ourselves. Instead of pretending that college football is anything noble or sincere. It's a sewer that many pretend smells like a rose (i.e. "I can't wait for college football season to come!"). Those that do, imo, do nothing but promote everything that is wrong about college sports. And, imo, college basketball is quickly reaching the same level, and in many ways has already done so. But that's a comparison for another day.

/rant.

Sorry, had to get that off my chest.

Go watch it again, that was AFTER the interference was done.

Your sec boys did a nice make-up call on Carlos a few plays later that was B.S.
There was at NO point on either play anything REMOTELY resembling PI.

What Duke did was childish and bush league, and he should be suspended.
That was a close call (after watching the play from above link). Missippi #8 is grabbing Calhoun for several stepsand based on his head turn the ball was likely in the air. And that was hardly an example of Calhoun being a thug that these missippi whiners are clamoring for. Good grief what babies.

The real point of missippi consternation here is this:

They expected the game to be a walkover. It was not. In fact until the 4th and inches fiasco the game was very much in douobt. As a result, even with the win, the missippi fans are looking for more so they pull out the typical thug (referring to Memphis- man this is old) nonsense. Calhoun gave the guy a push to the ground after he was bumped early in the route (and held on numerous earlier plays). At the game it was hardly noticed.

The above honks would have led you to believe that Calhoun stood over a missippi kid already on the turf and kicked him in the balls. Please. The real point here is missippi thought they would be a lot better but instead they proved to be a bit better than Memphis and very well could have lost the game yesterday had West/OC/Hall not brain farted all over the field. The white clad players were hardly dominant over the blue clad players- until the last few minutes when the blue kids quit on the field- something West had better address. The celebrations by the missippi players after that proved to me they read the press clippings and were more interested in a good looking final score than winning the game over a team they were supposed to be much better tham but as it turns out they were barely better than.

Time to move on kids. MTSU.

That play was right in front of me. How can you get off the line when you are being held 30 yards down the field!?!?!?! Fans like you are the reason I can't stand old urine. Prancing around in your little sweet red pants. I'm glad this is the last time we play so I don't have to look at that crap any more. Roll Tide!!!!
It was a solid block. Sure wish we leveraged our talent at WR. Our 2-deep is pretty darn good, but we need a QB to throw the ball. A lot of people in my section were rooting for Hudgens to get the nod in the 2nd quarter. He may lack mobility, but he sure can throw a tight spiral.

Easy Tiger---it is a big boys game and it wasn't exactly a punch.

I was under the impression that you were not allowed to touch the reciver after 5 yds down the field? I could be wrong. I thought the interference call should have been offensive, but illegal touching should have been called on OM.
I thought Snead throwing late in the game was a little cheap, but I got the feeling OM felt we were taking cheap shots and were rubbing it in a little.
As for the last TD, we quit, and OM ran a very predictable play with back up players which we should have easily stopped.

I don't know if Miss is a top ten team, I know we aren't. I also know that they better fix their LT and LG issues, or Snead won't finish the season injury free.

Agreed; however, mobility is different than speed. I think Hall has a slight agility lead over Will in the pocket. I think both of them run a 5.1 40yd dash 03-lmfao Will has a rocket and 6yrs in this system though.

Mobility is fine but if you cant hit any decent pass, what good is it...we just become run only the backs and QBs will get killed and it will be a long season

No offense to Calhoun, but he is a waste of talent at U of M. Throw some darn jump balls into the end zone to him haha.

I thought Powe can count too and was now on the Rhodes Scholar list. He a smart boy.

Come on Man!

I want the players and the student-athletes to be productive members of society because ultimately how the players does at a University ultimately reflects on the university and the city of Memphis. It it helps the player, it really helpls himself and his family improve their life. Do I come to watch football, baseball and basketball to be entertained by them? Of course that is what most fans do. It is up to player to take advantage of the opportunities playing major college sports during his time in college and the opportunities during and after his playing days are over. I have known for a while major college sports are a business and they want to make sure they will be successful. College sports has been semi-professional at worst, do you not think that college football has had ringers since it has started. Purity is the biggest lie in college sports in the end.

We're equally glad the series is over. Your team is certainly not devoid of thugs, by the way.

I think you quoted the wrong thing.
(09-06-2009 10:32 PM)memphis88 Wrote: [ -> ]Anyone have the video of it? Just looked and couldn't find it, but I saw a clip of Calhoun making a punk move by pushing one of the OM players in the head and knocking him down.

Watching it on the TV replays, I thought they were sort of tangled and Duke made sort of a DL's "swim move" to break free and at the same instance, the OM DB stumbled. Maybe it's blue-shaded glasses, but I didn't think Duke slapped his helmet on purpose. And the OM guy didn't get "knocked down", he was stumbling; I guess their feet got tangled. They might have called the Pass Interference on him for cutting into Duke's route, I don't know. I thought it was going to be offensive PI.
I think he got a shot in, and I don't really care---at least he was fighting and not laying down.

He may have been frustrated because of the illegal contact downfield that wasn't called.
Nutt was pissed about the cheap shots that memphis took. SO he ran up the score. Very poor on Nutt and Calhoun's part. People who don't even like Ole Miss noticed Calhoun's actions. It's a shame that his character will cost him. Have yall been missing any lap tops? If so, dial 1-800-JadaBrown for this free limited time offer. J/K

Good game guys. Yall will win C-USA.
If Calhoun took a cheap shot, it was probably frustration at how much academic integrity has been sacrificed.

He was likely thinking about how the UNIVERSITY of missippi admitted two football players that could not read beyond the 1st grade level. In his frustration at this symboiic ruining of education, he gave a little shove to a DB that was fouling him all game.

For his recognition that Missippi admits functional illitrates into thier school, we do apologize.

Glad he never came to Ole Miss. Would not have fit in with the current program. Different mindset in Oxford. Thugs are not welcome in Coach Nutt's program.

Just found out eight of our players had the flu and were quarrantined from the rest of the team prior to the game.

45 -14 with eight players having the flu?

memphis should be thankful for the H1N1.

As are illiterates.
