Even if the actual CONTENT of your avatar was acceptable for the main board, I'm pretty sure it exceeds the size restriction.
I think you are being completely inconsiderate of others with your avatars. I have held off saying anythinig but since someone brought it up, I will put my 2 cents in. Please realize that not all of us appreciate that type of stuff on our computers. We had this discussion two years ago on the other board when people were putting this type of stuff in their signatures. There is a BBOTD forum for a reason. That is where this stuff belongs. It does not belong on the other boards. In my profession, I do not need hint of inappropriate behavior. Your avatars make where I can't look at Blazertalk when others are present.
As for the location of my computer. It is out in the open and that is by design. My office is connected to our den and you can see everything that I am doing on my computer from the den. My children's computer is actually in the den. We don't allow computers in bedrooms or behind closed doors. It is all out in the open. I think more people should practice that.
Anyway, I would ask you to please be more considerate of others and restrict your posting of 1/10 dressed women to the BBOTD where people go to look at that stuff.

While I don't think that I should have to be the one to block the images, (they should be limited to the BBOD board and high school boys lockers) I have found that if you are using firefox, you can block images from where he posts them. Just right click the image and block images from that domain.
Of course, the problem is with him changing too a new slutty picture every day, if they are hosted on a different server, you have to block those servers as well. At least this way, I just block it once per day.
Again, I don't like this option, but it is better than nothing.

Yup, Sax, you're right. No parent should want a kid to feel like when they're up to something that they shouldn't be they should be uncomfortable.
I'm thinking that having the 'puter in the open kinda makes porn viewing, cybersex and hot chat and the like less likely. Parents sometimes have this silly thought that limiting this stuff for their teens might be desirable.
Yeah, I know, if a kid wants to do stuff behind your back you really can't stop them. You don't have to offer tacit approval or make it easy however.
There's nothing like pulling up some nasty porn site from the browser history your teen has no idea exists and asking him exactly why he was on a buttsex site or something. Puts the fear of god in the horny little buggers.
As to the avatars - a lot of us look at this site from work. There are people who walk up and glance over your shoulder, and they get an impression of what you are looking at from that. I enjoy the female form as much as the next guy but I agree that some of HD's avatars really push the envelope.

If a child is told "not to do that" or "not to do this" he or she is likely to obey you but his/her mind is already contaminated by the fact that this is a "no, no!" It will always stick in their mind forever so when they get good and ready, they'll investigate for themselves and decide for themselves whether or not to accept the orders of their parents. All of us are forming a "list of arguments" that we can accept and thus will run any new ideas through their "list of arguments" and if it passes that then it becomes one of their beliefs. The truth is no one can "right your beliefs" except you yourself.
Now, if there is a chance to win a convert, it would be by how you behave yourself. If you present yourself as a caring parent, then your children could observe that and when they do investigate for themselves and then compare what they have found with what you present to them, then they could favor your mannerism. It will not work if you have presented them with a thousand no-nos to which they will never understand unless they "experience" it themselves and if you don't allow them to "experience" it themselves, they will some time in the fulture decide that you were simply denying them the opportunity to understand the truth. That's when they rebel. They want to understand things their way! And if they don't get their way now, they will when they get out of your house in the future and if they find that they cannot agree with you then they are going to be mad with you because you have denied them for so long the opportunity to understand things with the tools that they know they can understand with.
The posters who post these objectionable images are doing this because we are goading them and it is a pleasure to them. The flaw in your argument is that you are assuming that BTR is not giving his children arguments for why these things are wrong. While reactance is a possibility, it is also possible to say no to a child and give him/her reasons why you are saying no. These arguments can eventually become part of the child's own thinking as they are assimilated into their minds. Psychologists tell parents to do just this sort of thing when teaching their children about drugs, and it is quite effective.

I just don't understand the purpose of posting 9/10 naked ladies on a board where everyone else who reads the board has to see them. I understand if I were going to the babe of the day site, but not on other sites. Please don't take this as I am trying to right the world with this post. I am just asking that we try remember that not everyone on this board is a sex deprived teenager who wants to see this kind of stuff.

As for how I raise my children. That is my business and not anyone elses. We frequently receive compliments on our children and I believe that my children are probably as well rounded (if not more so) than the average kid growing up in Alabama. They are well traveled, fluent in two languages, and more culturally sensitive than most kids in the US. Sax thinks I should respect their privacy and give them free reign. I think that open room tv and internet are a good thing. Sax thinks that it invades their privacy. Sorry, I want to protect my kids from the junk and sick people that are in the world. I did not start the thread so I can't speak as to why it was posted here. I will not move it though because I think it is relevant to this forum as it is concerning posts to the forum. Also worth noting is that Attalla posted a sticky about this very topic in this forum, not the Blazer Bar and Grill.
I can't believe you would compare this topic to the AL.com board. I stopped reading the al.com board because it was full of bammers. This thread is concerning the community of blazers who post in this forum.

I started this post. BTR is right on in my opinion. It is real simple. Why do you feel the need to show hot women in bikini's on a UAB sports forum? They aren't even UAB cheerleaders and Golden Girls.
I don't care to see pictures of semi-naked girls on a sports message board. I am glad you spend a lot of time searching on the internet for the perfect avatar. There is a separate message board for that kind of stuff.
