Sandra Bullock NEVER looks awful.
Why is it that he goes to Wingate and not Briarcrest? Did Briarcrest not allow their name to be used?

Incredible story...I'm looking forward to this

I'd do her if she had orange hair....ok maybe not orange, what the hell that's what light switches are for. I'd do her with orange hair.

I really wish your wife read this board. I'm sure your son has already given up all hope on you.

I don't care to see this movie honestly. I've just heard alot of negative things about the Tuohys and it just doesn't interest me.

The book will give you even more insight about the story than the movie will. Are the Tuohys perfect? Probably not. Are they good people to let a homeless, black young man without really knowing anything about him? Absolutely. The mother saw someone who needed help, and that's just what the Tuohys did.

I have heard a lot of negative things as well, by people who know absolutely nothing about the situation. Doesn't stop them--who needs facts?
Read the book, see the movie. Surely some dramatic license will be taken--so what?
It is a good story.

Seems like it will be an amazing movie.

Didn't he have a bunch of other family members? Where are they how come they didn't help them out?

I saw that Fulmer and Saban are in it. Does Ed Orgeron make his acting debut in this? If so, it's worth the price of admission.

I can't wait to see it ! I heard coach O is in it too.

Definitely looking forward to it as well. It's a great story....and a great book.

I roomed across the hall from Oher at the Ole Miss senior camp. He ran an 8.5 second shuttle and couldn't read... that's how I will always remember him. I'm not saying he isn't a success (because he is), but he had that spot waiting for him at Ole Miss.

Looks like a very good movie. I don't go to the movies much anymore but I am going to try to get out to see this one. They picked a bad opening night though. It opens the same night as the new Twilight movie.

That's gonna drive the Tuohys crazy.

Most of the negative things I read about the story were from Memphis fans right here on mt.org.

Great story, great book. Just too hard to believe. Sorry but if his grades werent doctored I'm 6 foot 9 and trying out for the Tigers.

I saw it at the premiere the other night here in Memphis. It certainly kept my attention and was an interesting movie which will really resonate with Memphians and Ole Miss folks. It is very Hollywood-ized and I am sorry it was not filmed in Memphis.
They really took some liberties with the Briarcrest campus, made it look like a rural school, and made Hugh Freeze into a country bumpkin. Sandra Bullock really carried the movie. The child who played her son was a hoot, and the man who played Oher was wonderfully convincing.
The small part played by Kathy Bates is worth the price of admission, IMHO.
Even if you don't care for Ole Miss or Briarcrest (me), you should not miss this movie. At the end, they show a lot of authentic photos of the Tuohy's and Oher. One shot shows Briarcrest playing MUS. It's really cool to see this movie which will be a hit all over the country and realize it has everything to do with Memphis. On one level, it raises a whole lot of questions about poverty, amateur sports, families, etc., but on another level, it is just a really well-done movie. I saw Paranormal Activity the week before, and I thought they were both pretty amazing.

Yes he other family members, but again if you read the book you will find out that his family members were taken away to other foster homes and to other families. What the Touhy's did is just amazing. Just because Oher went to ole miss doesn't mean they forced him there. If you read the book you will read about how leigh anne (sean's wife) wanted oher to go to lsu because she really like saban and how he presented himself. If anybody that was trying to use oher it was freeze who was using him to get a job. Saban also even said himself if he didn't leave lsu he would have had him at lsu and I truly believe that. When Saban left lsu that made the decision to go to ole miss that much easier.
