Reds trade for a decent 35 year old third basemen with injury problems and a big contract. They give up? Edwin Encarnacion an 26 year old third basemen that hit 25 jacks last year and their top prospect Yonder Alonso. I am beyond pissed right now. Worst trade in years.
Correction it is not Alonso going to the Blue Jays. Just Josh Roenicke, a very promising bullpen arm, and our best minor league pitcher in Zach Stewart. Jocketty needs to go.

and zach stewart? wow, i feel better about Sabean. How can jocketty possibly justify this move?
I don't get it. Cueto, Volquez, Bailey, Stewart, Travis Wood, Mike Leake is alot of young talented players. And you give up arguably the pitcher with the best stuff (and fantastic stat in AA and AAA) still in the minors for an aging third basemen with a huge contract. Toronto better have paid for most of his salary next year.

i'm just baffled by some of these moves. Boston can gave up a good setup man and two prospects (i don't know how good they are) for a great, young, switch hitting first baseman and the reds have to give up one great and one good arm for scott rolen? Weird
They definitely overpayed but dont pretend that Edwin Encarnacion is a player worth caring about. Rolen, even at 34 and without the roid power, is a far superior player in every way.

now that's something i can agree with
I disagree. Edwin had a career OPS of .794 and the guy is only 26. Yes he is having a bad year but he had a hurt wrist even before he went to the DL. Give me Edwin at his 4 million over Rolen and his 10 million.
Last year Rolen had an OPS of .780, the year before that it was .729. Yes, Rolen is better in the field but give me Edwin because of his potential, age and contract.

makes sense, seeing as how rolen isn't exactly gonna put them over the top
Have you seen the dude? He could be 35 for all we know. I mean **** he almost looks like a black Scott Rolen
