Per ESPN, Tyson Chandler has been traded to the Charlotte Bobcats for Emeka Okafor. So the New Orleans Hornets lose a scoring presence and good athletic center for an undersized center with rebounding and good defensive ability. I do not like this trade, but I understand why the New Orleans Hornets did this trade. Okafor has three years and forty million left on his contract. I guess New Orleans realized that they had gone as far as it could with Chandler and Chris Paul, and the Hornets are looking to retool the team.
it's good to see that other owners actually trade for real players, not just cash
i love tyson but he was totally useless last year. stats-wise he and okafor are pretty close but with one MAJOR difference – okafor played in 82 games, and chandler played in 45. any center can take a lob from chris paul. i like the trade. now they just need to get rid of peja and his gigantic contract. too much money for an injury prone spot up shooter.
Good to see that the Grizz weren't involved (for a change) in taking on a player from one of the teams as a salary dump.

Tyson Chandler was not much of a back to the basket scorer or a face up shooter. He was a Chris Paul throw him a lob or CP3 pentrated to the post and get a wider open dunk and get his points off the glass by tip in over the basket. He had a bad injury last year which limited his effectiveness. I just thought Chandler was a better fit in the New Orleans Hornets offense than Okafor will be.
The slobcats will lose more games next year, so that helps the bulls. New Orleans will be better with okafor, and that doesn't help the grizz.

Okafor isn't all that, but he is way better than chandler. '

Whenever the bulls played the bobcats last year, okafor made the game really hard for derrick rose. D rose could get by anyone but okafor made it difficult by swatting several of his shots after d rose came inside the lane. When they could get okafor in foul trouble or out of the game, then d rose could get to the rim much easier. There were only a couple centers i can think of that shut the middle down like that on rose last year, okafor and dwight howard are two of them.
