Am I missing something? He would be a good 2nd PG for us - we almost traded Conley for him last year. He would be a nice addition and won't get the mid level exception anywhere else. So, why would we not want him??
No telling what they will do next. Probably still chasing the "overrated superstar" AI.
You answered your own question. We are looking for a backup point guard. Sessions doesn't want to be a backup.

Does anyone "want" to be a backup though? I would figure almost anyone would want to start. Sessions would give Conley a run, which would be good for both...

Kyle Lowery didn't want to be a backup, but was and will always be - as was Earl Watson, Brevin Knight, etc....
Lets get J-Will back

you are kidding right?
Kyle Lowry should have been the starting point guard not Conley. 2nd J-Will will not want to come to Mempis unless he is starting there. I still don't understand why Conley is still starting. I'm hoping Marcus Williams does well during the season and he will get promoted to the starting point guard spot.
Just bring in A.I.

It's not like they can get anyone else who is halfway decent.

I'll take A.I. over Williams and Williams.
does it really matter who they get

Channel 5 reported this would probably happen, maybe tomorrow. If so, I will once and for all give up on the Grizz. The best thing they ever did was get rid of that punk.

This is asinine. Did you actually watch the Grizzlies in the last half of last season? Conley's numbers put him in the top 5-7 of point guards in the league in almost every category from the time Hollins took over the team. It continues to amaze me how many people act as if Conley is Marcus Banks or Mike Wilks. The guy was fantastic the last half of the season, which, not coincidentally, was the first time he was ever freed to run the team.

Conley 08-09 10.9 ppg, .442 FG, .406 3PT, .817 FT, 3.4 Reb, 1.1 Stl, .10 Blk, 1.74 TO, 1.78 PF, 4.3 Ast

Lowry 08-09 7.6 ppg, .435 FG, .255 3PT, .800 FT, 2.5 Reb, .90 Stl, .22 Blk, 1.50 TO, 1.90 PF, 3.6 Ast

Conley Career 10.3 ppg, .437 FG, .383 3PT, .784 FT, 3.1 Reb, 1.0 Stl, .1 Blk, 1.7 TO, 1.7 PF, 4.3 Ast

Lowry Career 8.5 ppg, .431 FG, .260 3PT, .746 FT, 2.8 Reb, 1.0 Stl, .2 Blk, 1.5 TO, 2.1 PF, 3.6 Ast

Do you seriously want to make a case Lowry should have clearly been starting over Conley? As for Marcus Williams, the comparison isn't even worth the effort. The guy may have been a summer league All-Star, but even his summer league averages hardly hold up to Conley's, even though they came against far inferior competition.
Conley has a lot to prove this year. He finished last year strong, and hopefully he'll continue his progress.

A few years ago everyone was bitching that we didn't luck up in the lottery and get Greg Oden. I'm so glad we got Conley instead.

How many times can you give them up? Is there a rule?
Well, at least the grizz aren't trying to get this point guard.
