I'm anxious to see how he picks the West, which should be pretty much improved everywhere, but perhaps in Little Rock. It should be hard to pick as well. One thing I do know, is that although PAPPY is a Trojan fan, he isn't a homer when it comes to his picks. If the Trojans stink, he calls it a skunk.
Clothespins may be in order.

Boy, you guys are making me nervous. I see Bozeman a much better all around player than Stevie, which is seemingly what some of you are basing your thinking. I truly believe he'll average low double figures. III has the potential to score a lot of points. Cicic is also a dangerous shooter once he gets his D1 legs. Garcia-Mendoza has a lot of scoring potential, and looks like he will play good defense. Davison is still a question mark, but I have the feeling he'll turn out to be a tough defensive player with some ability to score. The four position is the real question mark. Who replaces Shane Edwards. I think Courtney Jackson will make great stride this season with his strength, ball handling and shooting. If that occurs, we could really be salty, because Big Mike, Derrick and Burton are going to be stronger and more mature than last season. So why is everyone so negative? I'm not predicint a Sun Belt title, although that's surely a possibility, but I can't see us losing any ground. I see the cup half full.

Fowler gone.
Patterson gone.
Edwards gone.
I don't know what is coming in, but I don't think it will be that, and there are four teams in the West that essentially have everyone coming back.

And Moore gone.
I'm not sure we weren't a better team last season without Moore than with him. With that said, if we had Bozeman last year, instead of Patterson at the point, along with Stevie, we would have been better than we were, IMO. I believe the most difficult player to replace, Shane Edwards not withstanding, will be John Fowler. He just had those leadership qualities and would do what it takes to win games. It will be up to either Garcia-Mendoza or Davison to replace him from what I've seen. Courtney Jackson might just be the surprise of the year. Assuming his knee is allright, he could be a difference maker. But he'll have to improve in two areas. Free throw shooting and his jump shot. If he has worked hard on those two areas, and improved, he'll be a great asset.

Doesn't look like a bad prediction. I hate to admit it, but I'm afraid ASU may be more talented than us this year and I think their coach is pretty good. No way Scotto would put them ahead of us- I couldn't stand to do it either, but I am rather worried. I could see Denver winning the West, if they can learn how to win on the road. The won't lose more than one or two in Denver, at worst.

I'm not predicting a West win for us yet, but I do think that we at North Texas are the only team in the West returning from a strong year that doesn't have any question marks or overdependence on new talent.
I think the East is stronger than the West (top to bottom) and I think North Texas is the only team in the West that doesn't have a serious question mark about the season ahead. I'm not saying we're going to win the thing, but I will be disappointed if we don't.
I'm very eager to see Pappy's perspective on the Mean Green to get a good outside perspective on our upcoming year. Hopefully I'll have to wait six more days to read it.

Strangely, we have had North Texas's number on most occasions, just like Western has had ours. North Texas has had some very talented teams, but, in most cases, haven't been able to capitalize on them. Strange how some teams seem to have another team's number, even when the team has more talent. Let me add that we haven't had more talent than North Texas, and Western has definitely had more talent than we have.
