This will definitely be a blow to the team if true... another APR hit and loss of a veteran leader...
***UPDATE-8:52AM***
Aaron's father has stated that his son's comments on Facebook are untrue... AJ WILL BE a Blazer next season.
AJ has updated his status, confirming that he IS NOT leaving UAB.
On a related subject, the UAB Athletic Dept HAS TO put the reigns on its student athletes when it comes to Facebook. If nothing else, require them to set all privacy and information sharing settings to "friends only" so ordinary Joe Public can't read all their foolishness... --case in point-- what if AJ isn't really leaving? What if young fans stumble upon their favorite UAB PG's Facebook profile and read all the trash posted in his profile, free for anyone to see who has an account? (you don't need to be his "friend" to read his page)
An issue like this needs to be addressed right alongside academic issues, in my opinion.
If true, and Coleman as well, then this has to be the last straw with Davis. His management of a program as a whole has proven to be a disaster. He's been given every chance to learn, by the admin and by some fans, but obviously has blown those chances. There are no coaches out there to be hired right now (at least not ones we want for long term), but I think Mackin has got to show Davis the door and hand the interim title to Marsh for the season to prove he's doing something. What a shame that Davis couldn't learn from his mistakes...this will hobble our program for quite a while.
At least Adrien Coleman keeps his page private... let's hope Davis is indeed bringing in a couple more players. I couldn't handle watching a team with 06-07 experience and 08-09's depth.

Ok let's stop this right now,Aaron will be at uab for 4 years. How do I know ,I'm his father!!! We talked last night about them having a scrimmage with some south american team yesterday, and as a joke he told me he was going to play pro ball.I don't know how it reached facebook, but I can assure you he will not be leaving school unless by some miracle some nba team offers him some millions. So rest assured blazers there is no truth to this rumor. If Aaron posted this himself I can assure you it won't happen again!

Thanks chibro for the information. Facebook, myspace etc, are bad for college sports. Too much can be misunderstood.
1. Fire Davis. He's not going to suddenly turn into a great coach and handler of the program. Cut our losses now.
2. AJ needs to talk to some people who have played overseas. Unless its a big time team coming after him he may end up regretting going over there.

I also agre with MB on this. They need to do something.
AJ commented on his status and said he's not going anywhere.
Glad to hear.
Everyone needs to calm down and stop talking about what AJ should do, before someone says something that they regret. Because no one knows anything. We have his father saying he isn't going anywhere, and we have a vague reference on a social network page that may or may not have been posted by AJ.
I choose to trust his father unless further info comes out.
I agree MB.
I don't think losing Coleman will be that big a blow. It's not like we have a shortage of guards.........

A lot of good that does when those who do have access plaster what he says on sports message boards for all to see.

Notice I said
if true. I've never been a blind follower of anyone, including Davis, regardless of what you might think/post/say...I've learned to let it go because you can't seem to comprehend a nuanced view of another Blazer fan. Speaking for myself, he's been given the chances to prove he can learn from his mistakes.
If true, this would be proof that he can't.
If not, then he still has the chance. Only drastic circumstances call for drastic measures...and letting a coach go right before the start of school is as drastic as it can get (even more drastic, IMO, than letting one go during the season).
I received PM from a reliable source and AJ is not going any where, he is staying at UAB. Let’s put this to bed now. AJ will be a member of the team for the next two seasons.
